Surrounded by children who have seen to much war, I bring smiles to their faces by bringing candy, coloring books, crayons, toys, and a little bit of fun to their lives. Behind me is an enemy held village. A kind of truce exists when I’m there with the kids – the joy of the moment (and my machine gun) acting as a deterrent.

We are high-school sweethearts, and she holds down the homefront with our four children keeping her busy. She is wonderfully supportive of me, suffering in silence through my seventh deployment in service to our country, and helping me through my PTSD when I’m home from the war – simply stated: she is my rock.
