Sounding Off About Sound Absorption

Lorena asks:
“Do canvas prints help with acoustics?”
Hi Lorena,
That’s a great question. Canvases are excellent at absorbing sound. The canvas itself is a woven fabric, stretched over a wooden support with a hollow back. It’s excellent for acoustics especially when compared to a traditional print framed with glass or plexi.

to add to the sound absorption, try using polyester batting behind the canvas. Don’t over stuff. The put plastic over the back. Staple the plastic in place.
I’ve used this technique in music venues. cheap and makes a difference over canvas alone.
Cheers!
