About the organization:
Helping Paws is a Minnesota non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with 25 years of experience raising, training, and matching service dogs to individuals with a physical disability such as multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS), a spinal cord injury, or other conditions affecting mobility. These conditions are often very isolating and can make everyday tasks (picking up a dropped item, opening a door, turning on a light) frustrating or impossible. The Helping Paws service dogs have an incredible capacity to be intuitive and to anticipate their human partner’s needs. Service dogs enjoy their work. They are wonderful companions and they love unconditionally. Helping Paws has matched over 160 people with a service dog, giving people with physical disabilities the gifts of dignity, independence, freedom and peace of mind.
