Answer from Joe:

Thanks for the great qustion, Eva. At Canvas on Demand, we take favorite photos which our customers upload online to us, and we use them to create beautiful works of art on canvas. The customer can choose to have it finished with or without a frame, select the size they want, and decide if they prefer the image to be exactly like the photo or to have the look of a brush-stroked painting. We also can touch up older photos. The texture is of high-quality canvas and is made to last many years. We hear from customers every week who tell us their canvas will surely be a family heirloom.

Dear Canvas On Demand —

Once again you came through for us! Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our 2011 Silent Auction. The Silent Auction raised $1126 for our school. This is money that will go towards helping the students and teachers at South Hamilton Elementary in many ways. We hope that this Silent Auction will also benefit your business. We let the entire student body know who donated items, and we encouraged them to make these places ones that they will shop at regularly. We would love for you to partner with our school again sometime in the future. We could not have done with without you, so thank you again for helping us in this new endeavor.

Question from Lynn: I purchased a Canvas On Demand from Groupon. Can you make a canvas from a picture taken at a professional studio or is it copyrighted? Please advise.

Answer from Tom and Joe: Hi Lynn, and thanks for the great question! You may use any image you would like, if you have the rights to reproduce it. The Copyright Act protects photographers by giving the “author” of a photograph the exclusive right to reproduce it. This includes the right to control the making of copies. That is why you will be asked to agree to the following statement on both our online and prepaid mailer forms: I certify that I own the copyright for this photo(s) or, I am authorized by the owner to make and use a photo-to-canvas reproduction.

Our son is currently in Afghanistan, proudly serving his country. He has been deployed there for almost a year now, and we so miss his smiling face! I can just imagine the joy that you were able to bring to those Mothers that received their soldier’s picture canvas. I am sure that your kindness was greatly appreciated by all.

Lorena asks:
“Do canvas prints help with acoustics?”
Hi Lorena,
That’s a great question. Canvases are excellent at absorbing sound. The canvas itself is a woven fabric, stretched over a wooden support with a hollow back. It’s excellent for acoustics especially when compared to a traditional print framed with glass or plexi.
Best, Tom

Darrell asks:

“Hey guys, what is the best way to hang a canvas, and do you provide materials?

Hi Darrell,

That’s a great question. The best hanging method depends on what size canvas you order. The good news is we provide the appropriate hardware based on size.

For smaller canvases, under 16×20 we attach a sawtooth hanger. These canvases are very light, the sawtooth makes it easy to hang on a small nail or tack.

Sawtooth hanger

For larger canvases we include a set of beehive hangers. These are an ingenious invention. The beehives are attached to the back of the canvas with two screws and the supplied hanger is tapped into the wall. The unique honeycomb design allows the canvas to repositioned on the wall for straightness and alignment with other canvases.

Beehive Hanger

Plus, you have the optioned for a dustcover and wire hanger. For a modest cost we will adhere a paper backing to the canvas, attach a hanging wire and include rubber bumpers and courtesy hanger.

  Finished backing and Hanging Wire

I hope this answers your question, call us at 800-801-6312 if we can be of further assistance.

  Thanks,

Tom

Dawn asked this question:

“Hi Tom and Joe! Last year I purchased a canvas for my poor cleaning lady that has a son serving in Iraq. I want you to know that tears streamed down her face when she opened her 16 X 20 photo of her son in uniform preparing for war. He is now stationed in Iraq. My cleaning lady (whose husband has been unemployed) does not have a computer that she could even e-mail her son. I thought perhaps you could award him with a free canvas that he could send home to his parents. I don’t think you were having this promotion last year. Your company personally called and we really had to work making the photo (with a distracting background and with much cropping) into a masterpiece. I will give you his address in Iraq. By the way, are you having Christmas discounts or promotions this year? ”

Hi Dawn,

Thanks for the nice note.

Our operation Hi Mom / Hi Honey program is all year now. Your friend’s son can go to:
