“Do canvas prints help with acoustics?”

That’s a great question. Canvases are excellent at absorbing sound. The canvas itself is a woven fabric, stretched over a wooden support with a hollow back. It’s excellent for acoustics especially when compared to a traditional print framed with glass or plexi.

That’s a great question. The best hanging method depends on what size canvas you order. The good news is we provide the appropriate hardware based on size.

For smaller canvases, under 16×20 we attach a sawtooth hanger. These canvases are very light, the sawtooth makes it easy to hang on a small nail or tack.

 For larger canvases we include a set of beehive hangers. These are an ingenious invention. The beehives are attached to the back of the canvas with two screws and the supplied hanger is tapped into the wall. The unique honeycomb design allows the canvas to repositioned on the wall for straightness and alignment with other canvases.

 Plus, you have the optioned for a dustcover and wire hanger. For a modest cost we will adhere a paper backing to the canvas, attach a hanging wire and include rubber bumpers and courtesy hanger.

“Hi Tom and Joe!  Last year I purchased a canvas for my poor cleaning lady that has a son serving in Iraq.  I want you to know that tears streamed down her face when she opened her 16 X 20 photo of her son in uniform preparing for war.  He is now stationed in Iraq. First, thanks so much for trusting us with your reproductions. Keeping the canvases out of direct sunlight is a good thing. While the heat is not a problem in the short term, the ideal scenario is a cool dry place. I would be concerned that overtime there would be a problem. Big swings in temperature and humidity will make the canvas contract and expand and eventually lose its elasticity.

Regarding the marks from wear and tear of exhibiting, I’d really like to take a look before making a recommendation. If you send one to me, I can do some testing and provide a better answer.

Pottery Barn Teen has a wall mural for sale.  You can upload a photo, and they will make a flat mural with brass holes and tacks for hanging.  I think it’s something like 3′x4′.  Do you offer anything similar or would you consider something like this in the future?  While I personally like the wrapped canvas best, I can see that the mural would have an appeal for teen rooms or rec rooms, etc…

Thanks for the question. We don’t have any current plans to offer that type of product. The pottery barn product is hung like a banner. I agree that there would be an appeal for teens for that product, but if they saw a gallery wrapped canvas, they’d really like it. Gallery Wraps are contemporary and have the dimensional aspect as well.
