A Flood Can’t Dampen this Family’s Spirit

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

In late 2009 photographer, Katrina Wheeler, photographed the devestation caused by a flood near her home in Atlanta. But her heart just couldn’t stop with documenting it; she felt driven to do something positive to encourage the victims. So she put her talents as a photographer to work for the cause by doing photo shoots for the flood.

Canvas on Demand was honored to be part of her efforts by donating a canvas to one of the families that Katrina photographed, the Evans Family. The mom wrote us an email:

Dear Canvas on Demand:

My children and I have been forever changed by the experience that was afforded to us following the flood of September 2009.  We arrived at Powder Springs First Baptist Church expecting a 15-minute session for a couple of pictures.  Instead, we made memories that will last throughout eternity.  Our family needed a new start in more ways than one.  The floodwaters ravaged our residence, but those same waters also brought cleansing, purging, and divine restoration.  You were an intrinsic part of that, and as such, we pray God’s blessings upon you always.  Remember that what may seem like an occupation or vocation to you can be a profound life touch to someone else.  So, stay the course.

~The Evans Family: Deidre, Jourdan, and Joseph, II

Deidre, I don’t know how to respond to your beautiful note.  After all, the goal was for US to encourage YOU…but you simply turned the table on us.  Thanks for being such a strong and steadfast role model for so many.  Your children are blessed!  Mom

Everyone enjoys recieving a gift that is about them or someone they love or someplace they’ve been or something they have great passion for.

Heather from New Kensington, Pennsylvania tells us:

I actually stare at my canvas daily, and am crazily sorting through my photos looking for more pictures to turn into a canvas. I tell everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, about Canvas on Demand.  I send out links and forward promotional emails.  I may have to begin going to a meetings to deal with my obsession with Canvas on Demand!

You can be the one this holiday season, like Amanda, who will be remembered for giving  the very BEST GIFTS!  She told us today:

I just ordered 4 more canvases from you!  Thank you for making my Holiday shopping a breeze.  I believe that makes 14 for me for the year so far!  Thanks,  Amanda

Bringing Nature inside with Canvas Prints

Peacock

It’s always satisfying to find customers who tell us about the interesting ways of expressing themselves through canvas prints. Here’s a great decorating idea for our nature enthusiasts.

When I first saw this flamboyant peacock canvas, I had to know more!  Nelson LeMarquand from Lutz, Florida, explained to me why he decided to bring a favorite piece of his back yard environment right into his home decor.  “These wonderful creatures stroll by our back door every morning, so I ordered this canvas to accent and personalize our living space. ”

Nelson actually had several photos on canvas created from the original image that was taken by his friend, Craig W. Mellinger.   One is a large 40” X 60” showcase piece.   Nelson logged a testimonial on our website:  “Your guidance and suggestions have always been right on target.  We absolutely love our canvases!”  And we absolutely love that peacock, Nelson!

As Craig and Nelson have proven, canvas prints can personalize any living space by bringing the special people and places and events of our lives right into our individual decor.   What better way to create a friendly, personalized home or office environment than to share our lives with others who come to visit or work with us in that space.

Nelson and Craig have shown us how they were able to express themselves through a spectacular image of something they enjoy every day–right in their own back yard.  And they have reminded us that nature does NOT have to stay outdoors!   Mom
