Jada told us about the photo…
This is one of our engagement photos. We were so excited about the photo shoot. We didn’t have the money for a real photo shoot so my sister actually took a few pictures of us with her digital camera, and we picked the most professional lookin one.

Here’s what Jada had to say about Tommy…
Tommy (TJ) is a very loving and dedicated husband and father. He was been there for me during this rough time of deployment. He has been a great dad with our daughter, Taylor, by providing her protection and anything she needs in my time of absence. He has sacrificed a lot during my deployment. I love him dearly for staying by my side through this tough time.

Luis told us about the photo…
Well, this was on R&R after being deployed for a few months. We are stationed in El Paso, TX, but his family in NY wanted to see him so we took the first plane and had a wonderful time there. I chose this photo because it was a special moment of connection with the family since we always wanted to go to the Statue of Liberty and never had the time.

Here’s what Luis had to say about Yvonne…
My husband is the most courageous, wonderful, understanding, and attentive man I’ve ever known. He is a very hard worker and takes pride on everything he does. He supports me in every decision I need to make and he’s always, always there for me to… make me laugh!

Darrell told us about the photo…
My family at my daughter’s wedding. She had to get married four months early when I found out I was deploying to Iraq.

Here’s what Darrell had to say about Cynthia …
She is a wonderful woman. Works for a home health company and takes care of the elderly. She is a strong independent woman. This is my second deployment and she has had to handle everything at home alone and never complains.

Lennie told us about the photo…
This is our family photo that we took in July 2009 just before my deployment.

Here’s what Lennie had to say about Michelle…
Michelle is the best thing to happen to our family. I met her a year after my divorce. I had four daughters and Michelle took the responsibility of being a mother to our girls head on. She is always there for us and never complains. She truly is the love of my life and I want her to have this special gift because she deserves it. We have been married for five years this year and I have been gone for almost three of the years. I can hardly wait to hold her in my arms. I love them all more than words can say.

Kirk told us about the photo…
This photo was taken before the Marine Corps Birthday Ball in 2007

Here’s what Kirk had to say about Sandi…
Sandi is the love of my life and throughout numerous deployments and time away from home she has kept the home fires burning, raising our daughter and taking care of not only every aspect of our lives but also volunteering her spare time to support the families of the Marines while we are away. She is my sounding board, my shoulder but best of all my best friend. I am a better man because of her.

A rare photo of all 5 of us. Usually I am deployed, and my wife is behind the camera.

Here’s what Peter had to say about Angel…
She was actually a Canvas on Demand customer until she had our 3rd baby and since I have been deployed more than I have been home the last couple years, she has given up photography to give her full attention to our children.

Thomas told us about the photo…
This photo was taken the day I left for Iraq. It is the first family photo that we were able to take that included all of us. If you look closely, you may be able to see that I am wearing my uniform under the shirt – in some of them my pants show. About 20 minutes after this picture I kissed my girls goodbye and my wife and I left for Ft. Drum, so that she could drop me off for my flight. Between the dog and the baby, we had to take about 20 pictures to get a good one.

Here’s what Thomas had to say about Elizabeth…
She is a mother of 2, who is staying at home for our 4th deployment, the second with children. She is the rock that keeps our family together and sane. Between our constant moves (three since June 2008) and my deployments, I do not know how she can keep the family focused and supportive of me and my career. She has had to give up her career as a High School English teacher due to our constant moves and the realities of raising 2 children on her own, not to mention taking care of me, when I am home. her strength and attitude through all we do is my inspiration. While it is hard to deploy to combat, I can’t imagine how hard it must be to stay home, raise two kids, and worry about me the whole time.
