About the organization:

The purpose of the Foundation is to support our Irish dancers in their year round performamces in the community at hospitals, nursing homes, schools, senior centers, government centers, and universities. We are post proud of our opportunities to perform at Bethesda Naval, Walter Reed Hospital, and The US Navy Yard. We also help dancers to recognize their dreams while sharing knowledge of Irish dance, music and culture. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to help defray some of the costs associated with Irish dance, such as new school dresses and funds for travel to major competitions.

Why are you crazy for canvas?

I have always wanted to order canvas prints but could not find good quality at affordable prices..I really love the way mine turned out..they even messaged me to say that they were upgrading the size for free because my picture would look better and they wanted me to be happy with my product! I am so glad that my daughter referred me…she's a canvas crazie too!

One of my favorite styles in canvases is a collage. When I just can’t decide on one image, I usually decide on several…all on one canvas. Customer Jackie thinks just like me. Then Becca decided to do a little Photoshop project that features her paternal grandmother. “This is of Georgie, and of many photos of mygrandparents and extended family. After scanning a large selection of family photos, I created this composite as a way to feature and display them.” What a great way, Becca, to collectively honor somany at once! She went on to say: “I am very happy with the quality of my finished product. This is my first experience with a canvas wrap, and I was worried that the texture or process might blur some of the photographic detail. Canvas on Demand answered my questions regarding color profiles and file prep.The finished product is everything I could have hoped for!”

Second Time Around Animal Rescue is a Doing Good recipient – 5/12/2012

S.T.A.A.R. (Second Time Around Animal Rescue) is an all-volunteer, no kill, non-profit organization devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming stray and abandoned animals in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Because the medical needs of these animals can be costly, fundraising is a necessity. In addition to being vaccinated, dewormed, micro-chipped and medicated for any illnesses prior to adoption, all animals adopted through S.T.A.A.R. are also spayed or neutered to help prevent the pet overpopulation problem.

This year our need is especially great and kitten season is upon us. We expect to rescue several dozen kittens during 2012. Most of these animals will be rescued from animal control facilities and kill shelters where they would be euthanized otherwise and will require a great deal of medical care before they will be ready for adoption.

We are planning a raffle and silent auction this year to help raise money for medication and veterinary bills for our animals. For these events to be a success, we need the help of generous area businesses who care about animal welfare. We are requesting an item or gift certificate that we may use in our raffle or silent auction. Your company name and web address will be printed in the raffle literature.

Donations can be mailed to the attention of Elizabeth Schuett at 1029 Emerald Dr. Schaumburg, IL 60173. S.T.A.A.R. is a 501 (c) (3) charity and all donations are tax deductible to the extent that the law allows. Receipts for your donation will be mailed upon request.

The Montessori School of the Berkshires is a non-profit, Section 501(c)(3), non-sectarian school that admits all children regardless of race, creed, color, or origin. We serve toddler-aged children through students in the eighth grade. All MSB students, including our youngest, give back to their local communities, demonstrating a key component of a Montessori education; that is, to ensure children contribute to their community and help others in need. Here are some of the ways our children practice this:
• Visiting and corresponding with members of local retirement and assisted living communities
• Growing organic vegetables and selling them at local farmers’ markets
• Raising money for donations to disaster relief efforts

We hope that you can easily see the value that these opportunities provide our children and the community, and would be willing to support our fundraising event with a donation of goods or services that we can auction off that night to raise funds for The Montessori School of the Berkshires.
