Are You the Big Sister?

Monday, April 9th, 2012

I love writing this blog, because when I sit down at my computer, I never know what’s going to trip my trigger.  I begin perusing the Customer Showcase testimonials until, suddenly…a canvas—or two or three—shout: “Write about me!”  And I do.

Today, I was captivated by images of big sisters.  I’m a big sis myself, and it’s one of my favorite roles in life.  My sister means the world to me.  Just last week, I came across a quote by author, Barbara Alpert, that I enjoyed.

“A sister. She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. And some days, she’s the reason you wish you were an only child.”

The first Big Sis canvas I’d like to share belongs to customer Sharon who sent us this photo of her two granddaughters at the beach and asked if we’d turn it into a canvas for her.  She later wrote to say: “I am very pleased with the service and finished product. I just placed my third order! I will order again and again.”  Thanks, we love that sort of feedback, Sharon!

I enjoyed the coloring in this next canvas that we created for a customer named Mark.  He explained that The photo is of two of my grand-daughters taken by my daughter during a visit to Disneyland. My daughter utilized Photoshop to fade some of the color. Canvas on Demand’s service was great and simple to use. I uploaded a high resolution .jpg of the photo via the internet, ordered a 16×20, made payment, and had the canvas a week later. The clarity and quality are excellent.

Now how sweet is this lovely black and white of Darrin’s children?  He told us how pleased he was with the finished product.  “The service was great and you made sure it was delivered in time to give as a gift. You also sized it accordingly, so it was perfect.”  It is hard to go wrong, Darrin, when you have a snapshot as precious at this one!

I am always fascinated with the stories behind the canvases, and this one touched my heart.  Janet told us about her older daughter—in the midst of an important day—stopping to include her little sis.  “This is a photo of my girls.  The day was 100% humidity, and we were having our older daughter’s senior pictures taken.  She made sure her little sister was included. The canvas was so easy to order.

Maybe my next post will feature brothers, but today I had a great time writing about these wonderful images of sisters.  Mom

There’s Nothing Like Sisters

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

One of the favorite roles I play in life is that of an older sister. My younger sis finally came along when I was 12, after begging my mom and dad for years. And over the decades, we have grown to be the dearest of friends. And my five grandchildren are all sisters! So it stands to reason that the following canvases caught my attention.

Melissa had this sweet black and white canvas created of Liza and Ruby, “sisters and best friends!” Melissa put her experience with Canvas on Demand in a few simple words: “So easy, so fast, and oh so beautiful on our walls.” Well, Melissa, when you have such precious little subjects as Liza and Ruby, how could that canvas be anything else but beautiful!

Another customer, Amanda, told us that this is her favorite image from a recent family photo session. “It captures the love my daughter has for her baby brother so well! And Canvas on Demand provided absolutely AMAZINGLY service. Fast shipping and the canvas is gorgeous! Thanks, COD”!

And Aaron puts the joy of the next canvas in few words: “Big sister; little brother.” She goes on to say that she has ordered many canvas prints for her clients but this is the first one she’s ordered for herself. “I can’t wait to fill up my walls!” Well, Aaron, when you do get those walls all filled up, let us know so we can feature you on our website again.
