One, Two, Three…Macro!

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

When I was a child, our local newspaper had a puzzle right next to the crosswords that challenged us to guess: What’s this photo? It was a macro shot of a common image like driveway gravel or a pine cone or someone’s nose.  It was fun, but it certainly was not art.

At Canvas on Demand, we often see macro images that are both fun and art.  Today macro photography allows us to appreciate details on canvas that our eyes are not capable of seeing.  Here are a few of my favorites that I hope will inspire you to…get ready; get set; zoom!  Mom

Wendy from Randolph, New Jersey, had us turn this photo to canvas.  “This is a photo of a dahlia that I grew in my garden.  It was taken by my husband. We had it blown up to a2 ft x 3ft canvas, and it hangs over our bed as an anniversary present to each other.  The service was fantastic and the final canvas photo enlargement is out of this world.  The detail, even at that large size is unbelievable– so clear and crisp; yet, on canvas, it looks like an incredible painting.”

Kate from Las Vegas, Nevada, said this about her macro. “ This was an ‘art house’ type of image…no people involved, a macro shot using a selective focus technique. It is a monotone of sea shells.  Your service was brilliant! So in the end, my order was a large triptych (60″ x 90″) of a macro, selective focus, monotone, shot where overall exposure, highlights, shadows and texture were very important. The team at Canvas on Demand was very helpful and responsive to my concerns, and the finished product is fabulous. This canvas photo really makes a statement! I can unhesitatingly recommend them.”

Bill from Tempe, Arizona, asked us to enlarge this image of a Brazilian Agate which he photographed in macro mode.  “I love what Mother Nature has done with these one-of-a-kind agates and the creative image they portray. I photograph numerous types of beautiful agates and have them printed onto canvas which creates a very nice piece of giclee artwork to hang anywhere in the home or office.   I was amazed at the quality I received from Canvas on Demand and plan to use them for all my canvas prints.”

Bill and his "subject"

Another Pro at Work!

When the folks at Canvas on Demand first saw Bill Hoddy’s fascinating image, they ask me to contact him to learn more about his work.     Bill said, “This photo is an enlargement of a Brazilian Agate, which I photographed in macro mode.   As a professional photographer, I love what Mother Nature has done with these one-of-a-kind agates.   What creative images they portray!   I photograph numerous types of beautiful agates and have them printed onto canvas, which creates very nice pieces of artwork to hang anywhere.”

This incredible image of nature at her best was an inspiration to us at Canvas on Demand.   Bill recently told us, “Most people view nature from afar in the micro mode, e.g. the Grand Canyon, a sunset on the beach, but I like what Mother Nature has to offer by exploring the macro view.    If  people take a closer look,  they will see something there that they never knew existed  in the big picture.

Bill ordered a 24″ X 36″ photorealistic canvas.   “Before I found out about Canvas on Demand, I had all my canvas printing done by a local photo shop.   I was amazed at the pricing and the quality I received from Canvas on Demand.   I now plan to use them exclusively for all my canvas prints.   To see more of Bill’s photography, visit him at www.eaglephotographyaz.com.

Bill, your canvas encourages us to look more closely at the details in our amazing world!     Mom
