Definitely Digital!

Saturday, March 30th, 2013

Digital artwork, computerized images, have become quite popular with some of our customers, and we are seeing more and more of them turned to canvases.  I thought it would be fun to share some of these in this post.

The first three were created by Peter. He simply told us that “these are pieces of original art created on a computer with paint and graphic programs.”  Well, Peter, all I can say is FABULOUS COLORS! Thanks so much for sharing these on our Customer Showcase.  Hopefully, others will be inspired.

Then another customer, Caryn, created this last one.  “It is an original piece of art that I created digitally on my computer. It was a fun experience to create and turn to canvas.”  Caryn, I would be interested in knowing where you will hang this terrific piece.   digital Caryn

I imagine these will encourage some of our readers to give digital art a try.   Mom

Some Red, White, and Blue Inspiration

Friday, October 12th, 2012

Are you registered to vote?  Debates, campaigns, and political ads remind us that we will soon be able to exercise our right which  Samuel Adams referred to as “one of the most solemn trusts in human society…”  How blessed we are to live in a free country!  As I was looking at some recent canvases, I found myself searching for a little red, white and blue to encourage our readers to get to the polls.

I was touched by Gordon’s testimonial.  He explained his canvas and his love for his wife, Christin. “I had a fellow airman take this photo to surprise my wife.   I am always thinking about her, and hate being away from her and my family. Her strength helps make my important job easier while I am away from home.”

Now here’s a little more red, white and blue where you might not expect it—in a classic car.  Bill told us that this canvas is of an oil painting of a friend’s 1958 Oldsmobile. It is entitled, OLD. “Notice only the letters OLD in the name Oldsmobile appear on the trunk of the car. This has been a very positive experience working with Canvas on Demand. The painting was reproduced exactly as I wanted.  The quality of printing and framing was excellent, and I couldn’t be happier! As an artist, you can expect me to be a regular customer, as I have many paintings that I want to re-create on canvas prints. Thanks…Bill”

Customer Aaryn sent us a sweet photo of a brother and sister in red, white and blue.  She told us that she has ordered many canvases for my clients, but this is the first one I have ordered for myself. I can’t wait to fill up my walls!”

I want to end with a wonderfully patriotic canvas that we created for Kristen who explained that “this is a little boy who’s dad was about to deploy. He is in his junior flight suit just like his dad’s.”

So there you are–a little red, white and blue to inspire you!  Let’s keep America strong by exercising our right to vote on November 6.

Forever is a Long Time!

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

It’s June!  Just think of all the couples making wedding plans.  That’s why it seems like the opportune time to look at some of the interesting ways a few of our customers have said FOREVER.

A Forever Canvas

The canvas we made for Heather was fun, just plain fun!  She told usThis is a picture of our wedding rings and the shoes my husband and I wore down the aisle on our wedding day. The photo was taken in the yard of the first house we bought together.  It is just so special to us. We had it made into a 36 x 24 canvas to hang in our bedroom. Working with Canvas on Demand was great. There were no hassles, and I knew I was going to receive the best product.

Kristie and her husband had a very different idea.  This is our favorite photo from our wedding day.  It was taken at

In the Park...Forever

a local park, Mingo Park, in southwestern Pennsylvania, just south of Pittsburgh. The park is known for the history of the covered bridges that are in it. This is my first time using Canvas on Demand.  It was VERY easy, and I was able to pick the styles that I wanted.

I don’t know if this next concept will last FOREVER, but it is certainly original! Sherry loves making breads, so…  I am a psychotherapist by trade, but I also dabble in other areas of endeavor. One sideline is baking challah-dough breads in various shapes for special occasions. This picture is of my most popular production; bear breads

Bread Wedding...Forever!

dressed as bride and groom (costumes are made of lace, satin, felt, etc. and thus are not edible–at least according to most/sane nutritionists) and plated with fluff and silk flower petals. Cute, huh? As always, great looking results from Canvas on Demand that get everyone’s admiring attention.

Cassie’s photo of the wedding rings on her wedding day shows them in a bouquet. We LOVE our Canvas!  It exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to hang it in our new home! The colors are so beautiful and vibrant and can light up any room!

A Forever Bouquet

Cassie, I love this image too…and I wish you both a beautiful bouquet of life in the years to come.

Are you planning your special day?  If so, select that very favorite wedding photo and let Canvas on Demand help you display the memory FOREVER!

I’m writing this article because of a request I received from my, well…from my Grand-doggy, Quincy.   I love animals but since I’m generally on the road, I don’t have any of my own. Right now, I’m preparing for a long trip, so I am staying for a spell at Quincy’s house. (My sister lives there too.)  So I was at my computer trying to decide on today’s topic, and Quincy cozied up to me.  He put his little fuzzy Buchon head next to mine, licked my cheek, and looked into my eyes.  “Ok, Quincy,” I said, “I’ll write an article about canvases of dogs!”

Hats off today to man’s best friend!  (That’s “man” in the more universal context.)

Roger Caras said, “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”  And from the thousands of canvases we create of our customers’ beloved dogs, I know lots of other folks feel that way too.

I hope the canvases below inspire you to get out your camera!

How cute are these!

And this last  one really, really touches my heart and speaks for itself!

Quincy and I wish you all a doggone great day!  Mom

(PS…Cat lovers, stay tuned!)

There’s No Place like Home for the Holidays

Sunday, December 19th, 2010

The American journalist Marjorie Holmes once said: At Christmas, all roads lead home.

And at this most wonderful time of the year, home is where our loved ones are.  Some of our most precious memories come from the festivities of the holidays.  And many of our Canvas on Demand customers want to keep those memories alive with a family heirloom canvas.

Erica from Flushing, Michigan asked us to create this wonderful canvas on the left for her.  “I can’t explain how much I love it!” she told us.

Another customer, Carolyn from Fairfield, California, tells us about her holiday canvas.  “I sent in this photo taken in our home during the holiday.  It was the sole photo I had on my refrigerator because I love it so much. It is of my husband, our two Wheaten terriers and me. When I opened the canvas, I wept!  To make it even more special, it arrived on the sixth anniversary of my beloved husband’s death. Thank you so much, Canvas on Demand!  The colors just pop out at you.  Brilliant job!”  Thanks for a touching testimonial, Carol!  We are thankful that this canvas evokes just fond holiday memories for you.

Greg from Seattle, Washington, decided on a collage he had made for family of one of his clients.  “I had a collage made from photos from years of their Christmas cards which I had saved since their children were born.   The canvas was done with care and sensitivity. It was absolutely wonderful.  I want to thank Canvas on Demand for doing such a beautiful job.

Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!  Hamilton Wright Mabie

City Youth Seek Beauty and Light

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about Canvas on Demand’s support of the Viewfinder Project, a photography initiative organized by the LYN House, a youth-focused non-profit on Indianapolis’ near eastside.  I first visited the classroom where instructors and volunteers were teaching the children how to look for beauty and light in their neighborhoods.  Then this past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the opening of their photography show.

The House had been transformed into a gallery showcasing the youth’s work.  Some of the most outstanding photos had been re-created as art canvases.  What a joy to hear the young photographers proudly explain each piece–the composition, colors, shading, focal points, and textures.  But I especially enjoyed hearing how the project had made them see beauty where they had not noticed it before.

Thanks to the LYN House director, Heidi Lyda, and her board of directors for allowing Canvas on Demand to partner in this worthwhile and meaningful project.  Your dedication to these young people is yet another example of the beauty and light in our world.   Mom

Mom congratulates Mayson, a sixth-grader who was eager to share her photo of the Indiana State Capitol building.

Canvases of the photos will be sold to support the mission of the LYN House.

Are You Crazy Enough?

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Did you know that hundreds of our Canvas on Demand customers are CRAZY?  That’s right…Canvas Crazy!

They’ve actually registered on this website to tell us why they’re crazy about our canvases.  Then we designate them to be officially “Certified Canvas Crazy” and mail them a Canvas Crazy Kit complete with a Canvas Crazy t-shirt, lots of fun promotional items, and discount coupons to hand out to their friends.  And occasionally we ask them to do something crazy for us, like telling every nonprofit organization they know about our free $100 gift card to be used for fundraising.  Being crazy is simply a terrific way for our customers to participate in our mission of brightening lives with canvases.

For example, I just got an email from a Canvas Crazy named Kim:

Great News!!! I have completed my first challenge of passing out all my discount cards! And I wear my t-shirt all the time. I even had a stranger at the grocery store ask me about it.  I love being canvas crazy! I can’t wait for another challenge!  Kim

So if you woke this morning feeling a little wild and crazy, maybe this is the day you should go online and tell us why you’re crazy about canvases.  How boring and mundane life would be if we weren’t crazy enough to just dive in and enjoy every blasted moment!  I am.  Afterall, I have to be a little crazy to drive around the country in that crazy van pictured below!  Mom

A Story of Strength and Determination

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Our Canvas Crazies are a group of customers who are so absolutely crazy about our canvases that they apply to receive our Canvas Crazy Kit filled with a T-shirt and lots of fun surprises.   Every month or so, Mom poses a challenge to that group.   In December, she invited them to request as many $25 Gift Cards as they wanted to insert in stockings or cards during the holiday season.   Last week, Mom heard from one of those participants.   Her name is Lorri, and Mom forwarded her  poignant comments me and Tom.

Every now and then, a story comes our way that deserves to be shared, and Lorri’s story especially touched our hearts.   Lorri, you have shown us how one person’s strength and determination in the midst of a tremendous life challenge can serve as the catalyst to begin the healing process–not just for you, but for so many others.   We at Canvas on Demand are honored and humbled that we could play a small part in it.   Thanks for sharing this with us.   Blessings to you and to all those you love!   Joe

Hey Mom!
Thank you!   Your December challenge    helped make a very difficult Christmas much happier!    I sent the $25 cards out with our Christmas cards and a photo of my son who passed away this year.    I encouraged my family to find their favorite photo of Joe and have a canvas made!    My hope is that every single one of us will recall a special memory and that the canvases  will help in the healing process.

Thank you again,
Lorri
