He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.
~ Clarence Budington Kelland
It isn’t too early to begin thinking about Father’s Day! Start going through your favorite images or take some new photos so that you can create the perfect personalized gift. When it comes to a canvas from Canvas on Demand, you can order it in ANY size to fit precisely where Dad would want to hang it.
Look at what Meghan did. I can’t think of a gift for Dad that is more creative than the one she gave her husband. “My kids did the artwork, and it’s a perfect Father’s Day gift. I got excellent service. My husband had given me a picture on canvas for Christmas, and it s so beautiful that I returned the favor with a Father’s Day gift for him. I can’t wait to see his face when he sees it– all 6′ of it– hanging on the wall.”
Six feet of his children’s art work. What a gift!

I had to smile when I saw this Daddy canvas. The testimonial written by Joshua: “Our precious twin girls, Janelle and Joleigh. A real favorite photo of Dad and his girls.”

And don’t forget the other dads in your life—grandfathers and stepfathers and fathers-in-law and even great grandfathers. Aaron asked us to make this special canvas. “This is a picture of my son, at 3 months old, meeting his great grandfather for the first time in Boothbay Harbor, ME. This is his first great grandson. We are surprising him with this canvas.”
I can assure you, Aaron, that this canvas will be his pride and joy! Thanks for sharing it with our readers.

So plan ahead now in order to honor Dad. Have the kids draw a picture. Dig though old photo files. Get out your camera and take a picture like you’ve never done before…from a different angle or in a favorite place. Then let us turn it into a canvas for him on Father’s Day. Mom

Isn’t it mind-boggling to consider the impact that technology is having on our lives? Just take a second to digest this statistic from The Annual Mobile Industry Numbers and Stats Blog*. “More than 90% of all humans who have ever taken a picture, have only done so on a camera phone.”
So since we are now taking most of our photos on our cells, I want to tell you about a couple of fascinating apps that allow you to create photo collages right on your phone. And in case you’re wondering, the photos you take on your cell look amazing on canvas if you export them to us at a high resolution.
Now even if you don’t consider yourself much of a techie…stick with me here, because getting set up is so easy that it will only take you about 5 minutes. Really! There are only four easy steps:
- Download a photo collage app onto your phone. Here are two options:
- Diptic -http://www.dipticapp.com/ –This is an iPhone and Android App that lets you easily and quickly combine multiple photos to create a new image, and it only costs $0.99.
- Mixel -http://mixel.cc/ –This is an iPhone App that automatically arranges your photos into fun, beautiful collages, and it only costs $1.99.
2) Using your cell phone, take a series of photos you want in your collage.
3) Launch the photo collage app.
4) Create your collage.
Once you’ve created your collage, there are three ways that you can send the collage on to us at Canvas on Demand, so that we can, in turn, create a stunning art canvas that you will receive at your doorstep in just a couple of days.
- Go to http://www.canvasondemand.com/order/canvases/ on your phone and upload your image directly from your phone. (If you have iOS 6, this is a good option.)
- Plug your phone into your computer and upload your image to http://www.canvasondemand.com/order/canvases/ directly from your computer. (This is a good option if you don’t have iOS 6 or don’t have in iPhone.)
- Export your collage to your Instagram account and go to http://www.canvasondemand.com/order/canvases/instagram/ to make your collage from your Instagram photos. (This is a good option if you have plenty of photos on Instagram and don’t have an iPhone.)
You now have all the tools and knowledge to combine your favorite cell phone images into delightful, personal collages. And it only took a few minutes to install the app that costs less than $2.00!
Below is an example–showing the finished canvas and the instagram image and the original collage.

Again, from our trained and talented staff comes a tip that can be used for anyone planning a wedding. One of our employees named Marika sent this suggestion. “I just wanted to show off a little something that an employee here at Canvas on Demand created that I thought was pretty cool. We often make signature canvases for customers’ weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. In most cases, the image shows the couple or family in the middle with a lot of empty space around the photograph for family members and friends to sign. But this one was a little different. The little birdies in the tree symbolize the wedding couple. The heart-shaped leaves are intended for guests at the wedding to sign. I just think it is a great canvas, and a sweet idea!” Marika
Wow, Marika, this is elegant and creative. Thanks for sending this so I can share it on our blog. I bet some of our readers will use it or pass it along to those planning their special day. After all, it is spring, and love is in the air. And June is just around the corner. This idea makes a fabulous keepsake and is a way of remembering not only the event but all the guests who participated.
This is proof again that Canvas on Demand employees are truly the experts in the Photo to Canvas business. Remember, all those folks are standing by to help you with your next order. You can call them or simply use the live chat feature on the Canvas on Demand website.
I wish you the best as you plan your wedding! Mom

Below are a few of my favorite quotes about PROCRASTINATORS:
“Never put off till tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well”.
― Mark Twain
“Procrastinate now, don’t put it off.”
― Ellen DeGeneres
“If it weren’t for the last minute, nothing would get done.”
― Rita Mae Brown
“My mother always told me I wouldn’t amount to anything because I procrastinate. I said, ‘Just wait.”
― Judy Tenuta
And now—drum roll, please—there is some good news from Canvas on Demand. Today only—May 6th—your procrastination can pay off.
If you cover the expedited shipping, we will give you 50% off your Mother’s Day order.

Mother’s Day is May 12th. Don’t forget this wonderful opportunity to thank Mom for all she’s done for you. Don’t let the time get away! There is less than a week to place your order in time for her to receive it for her special day.
Let me tell you about three customers who learned firsthand how a Mothers Day canvas can make mom’s heart sing!
Rachael wrote a testimonial on our Customer Showcase. ” My mom took this photo of me and my brother and our dog…and she got it for Mother’s Day!”

Angela told us this story: “I thought it would be a great gift to give my mom a unique photo that would last forever! I come from a family of three girls, twins and an older sister. Recently, my sister had a baby girl, adding a forth. My mother LOVED the canvas with all of her girls!”

Simone’s story proves that canvases are ageless! “My mom (center) saw a photo with three generations of women in a magazine and wanted to re-enact it with her daughter and granddaughter,” Simone wrote on our website. “So, I took this photo of my sister (top), mother (middle) and niece (bottom). My mom quite literally wept with joy and gratitude when she saw the photo.”
Ok, ok, if you ARE a procrastinator, watch for our May 6th LAST DAY TO ORDER MOTHERS DAY SPECIAL. But why not play it safe and order today. Right now. Go ahead. Just do it. After all, it’s for mom.
Famous children’s author and educator, Kate Douglas Wiggin, once said: Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers, sisters, aunts and cousins…but only one mother in the whole world.
Now, don’t forget her. Mom

This post is the last in a short series of three articles that have allowed our readers to meet a few members of our remarkable staff as well as to glean some helpful tips from them.
Allow me to introduce you to Sabrina who shares a creative photo and a helpful hint. She tells us: “This image is of flower petals that had been scattered all over my desk. When I put them in a pile, this is what they looked like. I was dating the person who gave me the flowers, so the gift and the photo were pretty significant. I printed it on canvas to give to her as a Christmas gift.”

Sabrina’s heart of flower petals!
Sabrina then passed along a helpful tip to our readers. “Always use the original image when sending us the picture. That way, it can be cropped here at our studio using the highest resolution, and it will assure that the image has a better chance to be made into a larger canvas.”
I’ve often said that Canvas on Demand has the most creative customers on earth. Well, as you can see from the last three posts, our staff members are extremely imaginative and ingenious too!
So let me end by recapping their tips to our readers: Gavin suggested selecting an image that is unique, something with a twist that makes a good conversation piece. Shannon encouraged customers to use a photo they love, one that would be amazing to hang on their home or office wall for family and friends to see. And Sabrina explained how important it is to send an original photo with good resolution so that our art and design department can optimize the quality of your final product.
Now I hope you all can see more clearly why I say that our staff members are the experts in the photo to canvas industry. And they are waiting to help you! Mom

As promised in my last post, here is yet another article from a member of Canvas on Demand’s staff. Her name is Shannon, and she is sharing two of her favorite canvases and tips for our readers.
This first is an awesome canvas from a photo of Shannon in her spectacular bridal gown. She told us that “the image was taken in the fields surrounding my wedding venue. I had it taken so I would have a bridal portrait of myself displayed at my reception just to show a little more detail of the dress. You see, I was so busy talking to people, that I didn’t actually get the chance to be one-on-one with everyone. The canvas gave my guests an opportunity to get a close up look of The Dress. And of course, I also had it created, so I could display it in my home after the wedding to remind my husband and I of our wedding day.”

Up close detail!
Then she gave her tip to our readers: “Choose a photo you love. Our canvases are very durable and will be a beautiful addition to your walls. They will last for years and years to come. You will be delighted at how people will take notice of your canvas when they visit your home; that’s why it’s important to choose a higher quality image. It will look its very best from up close and from far away.”
As amazing as that first canvas is, I think her next one will really make your heart sing! She explains: “My family has raised and rescued several animals over the years. My mom has always had a very close connection with all of our pets, so for Mother’s Day, my father, brother, and I put a collage together of all those animals that have been a part of our family. My mother absolutely loved it! It is a great way to remember our pets who have left us and the stories behind their rescues. For example, the first two dogs on the third row are mother and daughter. We adopted the mother when she was pregnant and two short weeks later, we had seven puppies! We kept one and found wonderful homes for the rest. Pet canvases are great! Pets are a part of your family; so don’t they deserve a spot on your wall too?”

Shannon’s Pet Collage
Wow, Shannon, those are stunning canvases. I think our readers will take your tip to heart. Choose images you LOVE. That’s what Shannon does! Mom

We believe that our staff is the best. Each member of our team has done their part to make Canvas on Demand the leader in our industry. Everyone who makes up our management, customer service, art, and production departments are trained and dedicated professionals. In short, they know canvases, and they know photography. That’s why we’ve asked them to pick one of their own favorite canvases, to tell us the story behind their photo, and to give a tip that our readers can use.
So this post begins a short series called Picks and Tips from the experts—the staff at Canvas on Demand.
Today we feature a stunning canvas by Gavin. He took this particular photo on Christmas Day 2011. When he shot it, he was stading on Ehukai Beach on the North Shore of Oahu close to the world famous Banzai Pipeline.

Gavin shares this piece of advice with readers: “Make your photo unique. Chances are, any photo-to-canvas that you hang on your wall will have an interesting story behind it. When people come over to your house and ask about your canvas, be prepared to talk about it. With this photo, the surf wasn’t that big. We actually have more impressive photos from Pipeline and Waimea. However, if you look closely, you’ll see that the surfer is wearing a red Santa Clause hat. This surfer caught my attention, because he was obviously in the Christmas spirit, and while most people were getting up that morning to open presents — he obviously was very excited to get his favorite present … North Shore December swells. This canvas makes for a fun conversation piece and is part of my lake house rec-room that has surf photos I have taken from all around the world. Each one has an interesting story behind it.”
Gavin included a close up of the surfer below, so that the hat is easier to see!

And finally, he included a photo of some of the canvases hanging on the wall of his rec-room. Thanks so much, Gavin, for the wonderful story, the helpful tip, and the amazing canvas!

In the next post, you will get two picks and two tips from another member of the Canvas on Demand team named Shannon. Stay tuned! Mom

These lovely canvases speak for themselves. The images capture the sheer delight of young people dancing as if no one is watching! This group of canvases is actually a confluence of arts–dance and photography. William Stafford said: Kids: they dance before they learn there is anything that isn’t music.
Look at the fabulous colors in this canvas of a little girl named Esther. The customer tells us in her testimonial that “Canvas On Demand does a great job! I never have to worry about the quality. It’s a good feeling to know my precious work is in trustworthy hands.”

When I first saw this next canvas on our Customer Showcase, it made me want to get up and dance myself. What a joy and inspiration this child is! Stacy was able to capture her 13-year-old who was ”at the beach dancing like no one was watching!” She also had this to say. “I love Canvas on Demand! I am impressed every time!” Stacy, you really made our day with both the fabulous photo and the kind words.

And finally, another amazing beach dance. I am especially fond of the earth tones, the perfect backdrop for a stunning canvas. The customer who ordered this, Melinda, told us: “I have used Canvas on Demand 10 times now . . . and every time I have been nothing less than amazed. Quick, personal customer service and amazing products. I have had several made and have given them for gifts. Everyone loves them.”

These children are certainly examples of the Constanze quote: “Dancing is like dreaming with your feet! Mom

There are little Picasso artists in many families. Usually the drawings are taped to the refrigerator, but in the case of these innovative Canvas on Demand customers…they are hanging proudly on a prominent wall. What better way to encourage the artistic potential of those children. Congrats to these parents for thinking creatively!
Leslie asked us to make a canvas of this basset hound drawn by her 8-year-old nephew, Trenton, She thinks he captured the dog perfectly. What a great drawing, and what a great way to show Trenton that his Aunt Leslie is proud of him.

Meghan took the artwork of her children and turned it into a colorful collage. It made the perfect Father’s Day gift! And what dad wouldn’t be pleased with such an amazing present?
A customer named John took a 1st grader’s art project and turned it to a canvas wall-hanging. The child’s project was to recreate Andy Warhol’s “Self-Portrait” on construction paper. John, your 1st grader has a fantastic art teacher!

Vivian told us in her testimony: “This is my son’s afterschool watercolor creation he made in the 1st grade. I always loved this piece, so I decided to give myself a gift from him on Mother’s Day.” I think that sometimes the best thing a mom can do for her children is to take care of herself. And giving yourself such a delightful gift, Vivian, was a great way to honor your son…and YOU!

So this idea of putting childrens’ original art on canvas seems to be very popular. More parents and teachers should consider it. And John, I would love to write a story about your first grader’s art teacher if you would be kind enough to send me their contact information. Mom
