Birds of a Feather

Saturday, January 19th, 2013

I stop on bird photos.  It’s just that simple.  My maiden name was Byrd, so I endured years of bird slurs from my classmates during grade school.  And although that was downer, there were good memories about that name too.  When my days in class were boring, I used to imagine  that I could simply become a bird and fly right out the window!

How about this canvas we created for Pam.  “This is my Black Palm Cockatoo, Kiya, who is 1.5 years old. I had her beak fully shaded black like it will be when she becomes an adult bird.  (When they are young, their beak is white.)  She is a very sweet bird.  She talks, sings, and dances!  Canvas on Demand did her canvas to perfection.  I’m so satisfied. It is a beautiful piece of art and the service was very professional and very fast. I’m so thrilled. I recommend Canvas on Demand HIGHLY.  I am already working on my next photo with them.”

Laetitia asked us to make this canvas of her lovely babies: Ibid, Teflon, Juju, Patrick, Mancala, and Petzi.  She explains:  “I am an employee of Canvas on Demand, so I’m kind of biased! The canvas really makes the bright colors pop!  I love working here and seeing all the great pet photos!”  My sentiments too, Laetitia!  I feel so privileged to see these amazing images as they pass through the process to become customer canvases.

Ruth painted this wonderful art piece…and then had us make a canvas.  She calls it Cock-a-Doodle Dude. “The painting was inspired by hundreds of Red Jungle Fowl I saw roaming free on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. The breed is the ancestor of today’s common domestic chicken. He is doing what Roosters do … he is crowing. When growing up, I had a rooster like this.  He was my pet.”

Well there’s the theme for today—Birds of a Feather!  And I didn’t get even one little bit bored, so there will be NO need to fly out the window today!  Mom

The Wild and Unusual

Friday, June 8th, 2012

I moved to a very remote area of Indiana last fall.  I have especially enjoyed the wildlife in my forest.  I soon learned, however, that the animals at a nearby neighbor’s house are far more interesting.  I was invited over last evening for dinner and was greeted by their numerous dogs and cats and new little kitty.  But when I sat down in my lawn chair, I was handed a small cage with a baby squirrel in it.  During the visit there was also conversation about an alligator which they had as a pet for many years.  It grew from a baby to 6 feet!  It is sad that the pet gator died last year before I could meet her, but the stories are amazing and entertaining.  I think that time with my neighbors inspired me to look at canvases created of some unusual animals.

I’ll start with a customer named James and his 14-month-old Coffin Cockatoo, Coral-Belle.  “Very photogenic and loves to pose for the camera!”

Then I’ll move right along to two canvases by Dannella.  One is of a wild pig in Brazil.  She explains that these are often kept in cages by Amazonian tribes.”  She also asked us to create a canvas of a fabulous picture she took of a peacock.  “This photo was taken in Prague, Czech Republic in a park off the Malostranská metro stop.  It’s home to several peacocks that roam around. This particular one was trying hard to impress a mate.”  Wow! Both of these images are amazing, Danella!  She goes on to say in her testimonial: “Canvas on Demand has done some fantastic work with my photos. Very well done.  I keep coming back to print more!”

Edward sent us this photo and simply explained, “This is Jody and her one legged pigeon, Andy. I love the quality and very friendly staff.”

The final one is of a dog named Felton belonging to a friend of our customer, Linda.  Dog canvases come in to us often, but his one was unusual because Linda modified it in Photoshop.  “I have wanted to try putting my art on canvas for a long time. I even bought an expensive large format printer that prints on canvas but soon found the whole process overwhelming and could not get a decent print. I was also reluctant to spend even more money having someone else do it, but finally gave in when Canvas on Demand had a sale.  I thought that it would not really be the best quality, but I was astounded with the beautiful work you did with my photo! Canvas on Demand kept in touch with me throughout the process, notified me when it shipped, and followed up on the delivery….. I could not be more pleased with the whole entire process! Thanks guys for a job very well done!”  How fun, Linda!  And thanks for sharing how pleased you are.  It makes our day.
