Tony–A Remarkable Army Husband–Teaches Us All a Lesson

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I don’t know when my heart has been so touched as when I met Tony–a remarkable Army husband in North Carolina.  Someday I hope to return to their home to meet his amazing wife,Mayla.  It takes true heart to lovingly care over the years for a total of 74 (yes, 74!) little children.  And it takes true grit to survive the loss of several of those precious angels.

Give yourself a gift today and watch the video below.  You will be inspired by the lesson this couple teaches!  Mom

Canvas on Demand Supports the Arlington Children’s Theatre

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Canvas on Demand is committed to supporting grassroots non-profits across America.  Here is an organization that recently requested a $100 gift card from us to be used for  fundraising.  We enjoyed reading about their mission of bringing the arts to children and their families, and we hope to get some photos from them to post to our site so all our readers can learn more about them.  Here’s what they told us about their efforts:

Established in 1991, Arlington Children’s Theatre is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive theatrical experiences for children aged 4 through 18 from nearly twenty Boston area communities. ACT is an all-volunteer organization, made up of families who wish to have fun and work hard to bring theatre to life. We hire theatre professionals to teach our workshops and direct our shows. Each show relies on the participation of adult volunteers involved in every aspect of the production: lighting, costumes, make-up, set construction, set crew, etc.  Participation in an ACT production is open to any child, from any town. With so many financial cuts in the public schools these days, ACT fills a gaping need for performing arts for many area children.  We hope you’ll consider donating to this worthy cause.

Keep up the great work, ACT.  We are proud of you for Doing Good!  Mom

CANVAS CRAZY CHALLENGE FOR NOVEMBER

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Hey Canvas Crazies, are you ready for a new challenge? This November, Canvas on Demand is challenging all our Canvas Crazies to join us in saying THANKS to some terrific organizations!

Did you know that Canvas on Demand has a program called THANKS FOR DOING GOOD that supports non-profit 501(C)3 organizations by giving them a FREE $100 gift certificate to use in their fundraising efforts? All they have to do is go to our website and ask! THANKS FOR DOING GOOD is our way of letting them know how much we appreciate their work! But we need our Canvas Crazies to help us get the word out about this offer.

So throughout November, we are challenging you—one of our Canvas Crazies—to send the information provided below to all the non-profit organizations that you would like us to support.

You can simply forward the announcement below to those organizations by copying and pasting it into an email…and, if you like, you can even include your own little note if you personally know someone there.

Thanks for joining our efforts to let America’s hardworking charitable organizations know they are valued for making our world a better place! And, by the way, Mom encourages you to tell her about how you carried out this challenge. You can email her at mom@canvasondemand.com.

HOW TO CARRY OUT YOUR NEW CANVAS CRAZY CHALLENGE

Just copy and paste the text below and email it to all your favorite non-profits…

I recently learned about a great offer to non-profits by a company called Canvas on Demand. As one of their customers who is “absolutely crazy” about their products, I want to let you know about this program that supports the work of organizations. All the information about their program and simple application process is below…

QUALIFIED NON-PROFITS CAN RECEIVE A FREE $100 GIFT CARD—JUST FOR THE ASKING!

Canvas on Demand, located in Raleigh, NC, is the leading provider of canvas photo reproductions. Their process gives any photograph the look and feel of a traditional painting. The company has a charitable program called THANKS FOR DOING GOOD, which is giving away FREE $100 gift certificates to support 501(C)3 non-profit organizations in their fundraising efforts. The non-profits simply go to http://cool.canvasondemand.com/category/donation/ and ask for one! [The application is on the right hand side of the page.]

Co-owner, Joe Schmidt, explains the program: “Canvas on Demand is committed to making the world a better place. That’s why we want to support organizations striving toward that same goal. Up to $100,000 worth of these certificates will be given away to qualified non-profits. The certificates can be auctioned off and redeemed for an 11×14 Light-Brushstroke™ canvas, created from a favorite photo. It’s our way of supporting grassroot non-profits that are working to make a positive difference in the world.”

Qualifying organizations will receive a package with the following materials: A $100 Canvas on Demand gift certificate, an 11×14 Light Brushstroke™ sample canvas and stand, a descriptive tabletop card, and 10% discount cards for those participating in the fundraising event.

Operation Hi Honey Surprise is Turned Around on Mom

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I never stop being amazed at my experiences on the road.  So often what I expect turns into the UNexpected!  This was the case with Lesia and Fleet.  When Lesia learned I would be coming to the Norfolk area to present an Operation Hi Honey Anniversary Canvas in person to her husband, Fleet, she had an idea.

In order to help Canvas on Demand get the word out to our deployed troops about this program, she suggested I make the presentation on base at a dinner with nearly fifty senior enlisted sailors.  What a wonderful opportunity this was for me and for Canvas on Demand.

But that wasn’t the end of the surprises that night.  Our co-owners sent me away with a $100 Gift Card for each sailor there.  But in the end, the biggest surprise was to Canvas on Demand.

Watch the video below to see how that group turned the tables and surprised Canvas on Demand with a special Thanks of their own!  Mom

Go Canvas Crazies!!!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Well, Mom has just presented a new Crazy Challenge to our Canvas Crazies.  And they are stepping up to the plate to carry it out.  Mom explained to our Crazies that Canvas on Demand has a charitable program called THANKS FOR DOING GOOD that supports non-profit 501(C)3 organizations by giving them a FREE $100 gift certificate to use in their fundraising efforts.  Then Mom asked the Crazies to help us get the word out by forwarding information to non-profits in their area.

Within hours of Mom’s request, she was getting replies back from our wonderful Crazies:

I already posted this offer to my FACEBOOK and sent it to all my friends!  Hope it helps you get the word out about this program!  Thanks, Dawn

This is fun!  I just did a quick search and emailed four organizations in my area!  Trina

We love all our Canvas on Demand customers…but our Canvas Crazies are especially close to our hearts.  Thanks for helping us express our THANKSGIVING to organizations that are really making a difference in our world!

Are you crazy about our canvases?  If so, you can be a Canvas Crazy and receive a FREE Crazy Kit too.

Mom Prepares to Hit the Road Again!

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009
The excitement is building here at Canvas on Demand!  On Friday morning, I will be leaving our Raleigh offices with my van loaded up with Operation Hi Honey art canvases that I will present to spouses of those deployed and serving our country abroad.  There are many here at the company who participate in this effort to support our troops–the customer service and art departments, the production and packing divisions, and of course, the two owners Tom and Joe.
On my last trip of deliveries, I unfortunately had to miss one wife in Missouri, because she was gone at the time I passed through.  Since her husband could not be there, I really wanted to present their anniversary canvas to her in person, but it simply didn’t work out.  I had to ship it to her instead.  I just received a note from her that I want to share with our readers.
Dear Mom:  I want to thank you for the wonderful canvas of my husband Msgt Christopher and myself. It was a very nice surprise!  I really wish I could have personally met you when you were here in St. Joseph. I am writing to say thank you very much for the canvas.  It really means alot to me to have it. I have told lots of people about this offer from Canvas on Demand and how it supports our troops. Again…thank you so much,  Amber

Friday, September 18th, 2009

When I found myself totally lost–and even my GPS didn’t know where I’d managed to drive me–these two nice officers from Kansas showed me the way.  In turn, I showed them the way…to brighten lives with canvases!  If they weren’t already Canvas Crazy, I think they are now.  [If you two nice officers see this, thanks again!]  Mom

On the Air in Minneapolis with Mom

Friday, September 18th, 2009

During last week’s Canvas Across America tour, I had the pleasure of being a guest on a morning talk show in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.  I spoke with co-hosts Jay Kolls and Patrick Reusse on station KSTP about our Operation Hi Honey project, and I was joined on the program by Lori Wortham, who lives in that area and was a recent recipient of one of Canvas on Demand’s anniversary canvases.  Click below to listen to the interview…and to enjoy the wonderful surprise that the show’s hosts sprung on us!  Mom

A Wonderful Thank You Note

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

This note below from Jason who is serving our country abroad came to Canvas on Demand today.

Jason, it was such a joy to meet Melissa! She is beautiful–inside and out!  Everyone at Canvas on Demand participates in Operation Hi Honey–from the owners to customer service to the art department to production to shipping and packing. They each love doing their part, but few of them ever get to see firsthand the blessings that result from their work. Your note, which we will circulate to everyone today, will mean the absolute world to each of them. Thanks for taking the time to write us. Happy anniversary, and stay safe!  Mom

Dear Canvas on Demand:

Thank you so much for making this program (Operation Hi Honey) available to the troops!! After watching the video [just scroll down to see it] of the presentation of our canvas to my wife (I watched it several times) it left me wondering how I could have been so lucky to have a spouse, friend, and lover like my wife!!

I’m thrilled that she enjoyed the canvas as much as she did and happy that I was able to find this program! Again, thank you for offering it to us! The support you extend to the troops is so greatly appreciated, especially at a time when public opinion on what we do is so low. I have passed on the information about this program to our First Sergeant who did include it in the monthly newsletter put out to our Troop. I know for a fact some of the other Warrior’s have, or plan to, take advantage of your show of support!!

So, in closing, you have my deepest thanks for doing what you do to support us!! Thank you so much for being a part of celebrating our Anniversary. It does mean a lot to me and won’t be forgotten!! The fact that my wife mentioned my thoughts about leaving the military many years ago, and that this canvas was presented on 9/11 are very ironic and symbolic!! For it was the events on that day that sealed my decision to stay in the military, knowing full well what it would mean to the future of my family and I!!

One last great big THANK YOU to you and your staff for all that you do!! You are an amazing organization!!

With Regards,

SSG Jason
