Who Is Doing Good?

Friday, October 28th, 2011

I am winding up October with a little more practical information about Canvas on Demand.  The last article told about options our customers have when placing an order.  This article tells about an effort our company makes to support those in our country who are doing good…and making a difference!  Canvas on Demand is committed to making the world a better place.   That’s why we want to recognize non-profit organizations striving toward that same goal.   Perhaps you or someone you love have been touched by such a group.   Or maybe you volunteer for one, since so many non-profits are volunteer-powered.   In any case, if you let us know about the good work your favorite organization is doing, we will present that organization with a $100 Canvas on Demand gift certificate to be auctioned off at their next fundraiser. The highest bidder can redeem the certificate for an 11″x14″ PixelPainting canvas created from their favorite photo and the organization keeps the proceeds to continue their mission.

Your qualifying 501C3 organization will receive a package with the following materials:   A $100 Canvas on Demand gift voucher, a sample canvas and stand, a descriptive table tent, and several 10% discount cards for those participating in the event.

This year, Canvas on Demand plans to give away up to $100,000 worth of Doing Good gift vouchers.   It’s our way of supporting and partnering with qualified grass roots organizations that are working to become the very change they want to see in the world.  Following are a few testimonials from recipients.

Donna from the Asheboro Association of Education Office wrote to us saying:  We received the gift certificate and display canvas last week. Thank you so very much. Our group is so excited and we know the canvas will be a great student scholarship fundraiser at our statewide workshop for school office professionals. We will send pictures!

From Kim:  Thank you for your donation of a $100 gift certificate to the Elmwood Parents’ Club, an Illinois-based nonprofit organization. Your donation was auctioned off at our Golf Outing, Auction and Dinner event to help raise funds to further the Parents’ Club’s tax-exempt activities. The highest bidder took home your donation for $60. This year’s earnings will be used to provide assistance in worthwhile projects for the betterment of Elmwood Elementary School. We thank you for your support.

Derrick told us… Thanks for helping the Cornerstone Academy PTG with our fundraiser. The kit that you supplied was very well put together with a beautiful sample canvas for display of the quality of your work to all attendees. It helped contribute to the success of the silent auction.

From Traci:  Canvas On Demand, once again you came through for us! Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our 2011 Silent Auction. The Silent Auction raised $1126 for our school. This is money that will go towards helping the students and teachers at South Hamilton Elementary in many ways. We hope that this Silent Auction will also benefit your business. We let the entire student body know who donated items, and we encouraged them to make these places ones that they will shop at regularly. We would love for you to partner with our school again sometime in the future. We could not have done with without you, so thank you again for helping us in this new endeavor.

So go to our website’s Doing Good page and register to get you gift card!  And just for fun, click here to listen to one recipient’s “thank you message”!  http://youtu.be/xoASrCqW7nU  Mom

Help Us Spread the Word

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

My last post about Pfc. Brett Wood makes me want to remind readers of two very important Canvas on Demand initiatives.

The first is a program called Operation Hi Honey.  It is our way of honoring and supporting our troops who are deployed overseas… and their spouses who are holding down the home front.   Operation Hi Honey awards hundreds of our deployed men and women a free art canvas, printed from a favorite photo, which will be presented to their Honey on their anniversary.   It’s a way for soldiers to say I love you… and it’s a way for Canvas on Demand to say to our troops, Thanks for a job well-done!  Last year, our staff created hundreds of these canvases for our troops.

Here is an example of one soldier’s canvas which was sent to his wife on their anniversary.  Here’s what Gordon wrote to accompany the canvas:  “I had a fellow airman take this while I was standing on a ladder to surprise my wife. I am always thinking about her and hate being away from her and my family. Her strength helps make my important job easier while I am away from home.” (See the canvas at the end of this post.)

And the second project I want to remind you about is Canvas on Demand’s Doing Good program.  Are you involved with a non-profit organization that is doing great work in your community?   Or have you or someone you love been touched by such a group?   Canvas on Demand wants to offer our support and encouragement by presenting them with a $100 Canvas on Demand gift certificate to be auctioned off at their next fundraiser.  It’s just one way we can cheer on the good works of local non-profit organizations across America. Christine from an elementary school PTO just wrote us saying:  “Thank you, thank you, thank you! We had a great Spring Festival and people were excited to participate! The auction was a great success due in part to Canvas on Demand!”

Keep these two Canvas on Demand projects in mind and pass them along to the people on your address list to help spread the word.  Our staff often says that these efforts are the best part of their jobs.   Mom

Making a Difference? Can we Help?

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Canvas on Demand is committed to helping non-profit organizations all over America that are making a difference in the lives of others.  Just let us know about the good work your favorite organization is doing, and we will present them with a $100 Canvas on Demand gift certificate to be auctioned off at their next fundraiser. We have given away thousands.  It’s our way of partnering and showing our support.   Visit our Doing Good webpage to apply:  http://cool.canvasondemand.com/category/donation/

Below is a sampling of some of the great efforts we hear about every day.  Keep up the terrific work; we’re proud of you!

Toni told us about Aid Tanzania/Axelrod Photography  We are planning on presenting a photography show of 5-8 images on canvas with the net proceeds benefiting the Maasai Stove Project for Aid Tanzania. The stoves are a designed to reduce fatalities and illnesses of women and children due to indoor smoke inhalation. Proceeds will also go to toward their educational programs.

Dorothy wrote to us on behalf of the Museum of North Idaho   The Museum collects, preserves and interprets the history of the Coeur d’Alene Region to foster appreciation of the area’s heritage.  They have an event coming up called the Diamond Cup Regatta that will include a banquet, rides in a vintage hydroplane and silent and live auction.

Jenee’ asked to help with an organization called  S.C.O.P.E., Inc.    (Senior Citizens Opportunity for Personal Endeavor).  She explained that their goal is to support Aging with Style by providing the following services to the seniors: exercise classes, tap and line dance, social, recreation and educational programming, prescription assistance, home care, personal care, adult day care, social work, information and referral.  Their annual event will honor community leaders who have made a professional or volunteer effort that impacted lives in her community.

Laurie works with North Way Care Network  a professional counseling center offering expert confidential faith-centered care for individuals and families experiencing difficult or challenging circumstances.  They have an event coming up called  ”Healing Hurts” Golf Tournament in north Pittsburgh to raise money for their mission.

Kat tells up that many children benefit from an organization called Aim High.  It inspires a life-long love of learning and instill a sense of community, opportunity, and respect so that students are prepared for success in school and life. Aim High is the largest academic summer program provider in the Bay Area, operating campuses in San Francisco, Oakland, East Palo Alto and Redwood City. The program combines intensive, engaging and challenging academic classes with activities and events that create opportunities for leadership development and community exploration. Students join after 5th or 6th grade, and participate for three or four consecutive summers – at no cost to them or their families. The organization has grown from one site, serving 50 students in 1986, to twelve sites in four counties serving more than 1,000 students in 2010.

Canvas on Demand Supports the Arlington Children’s Theatre

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Canvas on Demand is committed to supporting grassroots non-profits across America.   Here is an organization that recently requested a $100 gift card from us to be used  for  fundraising.   We enjoyed reading about their mission of bringing the arts to children and their families, and we  hope to  get some photos from them to post to our site so all our readers can learn more about them.   Here’s what they told us about their efforts:

Established in 1991, Arlington Children’s Theatre is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive theatrical experiences for children aged 4 through 18 from nearly twenty Boston area communities. ACT is an all-volunteer organization, made up of families who wish to have fun and work hard to bring theatre to life. We hire theatre professionals to teach our workshops and direct our shows. Each show relies on the participation of adult volunteers involved in every aspect of the production: lighting, costumes, make-up, set construction, set crew, etc.  Participation in an ACT production is open to any child, from any town. With so many financial cuts in the public schools these days, ACT fills a gaping need for performing arts for many area children.  We hope you’ll consider donating to this worthy cause.

Keep up the great work, ACT.   We are proud of you for Doing Good!   Mom
