Fun and Funky!

Monday, September 27th, 2010

We take pleasure in turning your special photos into amazing canvases.  We also delight in the creativity of our customers.  We’ve learned over the years that people snap photos for many reasons–to capture a special event, a beautiful scene, a precious memory, or simply to keep a record that mark’s time.  But once in awhile, we have a customer who just simply wants to create something FUN and FUNKY!

Like Paul from Calsbad, New Mexico who had us create this unique canvas of a Longhorn cow and her calf.  “I over-exposed the picture, and it reminds me of some water color paintings that I had done. Everyone that sees it,  just loves it!  Already, I’m wishing I’d ordered it in a larger canvas!”

Or just take a look at what Allison from St. Louis accomplished when she used color and light for composition and came up with this bright and compelling piece.  “Thanks for calling me with your suggestions,” she told us, “because I love the way it turned out.”

And while we’re talking FUN and FUNKY, here’s one of my favorites.  It’s by Chris from Barlesville, Oklahoma, and it was hard to believe it when Chris told us that it was actually a poor shot before using Photoshop CS3 to spice it up.  Our staff ended up with a great canvas and a happy customer.  “The color reproduction was exceptional!  Thanks, Canvas on Demand!”

Well, it just goes to prove what I say all the time.  Our customers are some of the most creative folks on earth!  Mom

Canvas on Demand Offers Endless Possibilities

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Do you realize how many choices you have when you order a canvas from us?   Choices are good, but what is even better is that Canvas on Demand’s Customer Service Team is as close as a toll-free phone call if you need help making those choices!

Once you decide which favorite image you want turned to an awesome art canvas, there are a number of options.  You can choose the size; you can decide if you want your canvas gallery-wrapped or framed (check out our lovely assortment); and you can opt for one of two styles—PixelPainting™ or PhotoRealistic™.

PixelPainting™ canvases are created by using a specialized tablet and stylus that allow us to create brushstrokes by hand to give a beautiful painterly effect.

Choose PhotoRealistic™ when you want to maintain the integrity of the original image. Our artists evaluate your image then balance and enhance the color.  They also adjust the sharpness and contrast levels accordingly and even repair minor imperfections in order to optimize the image, making your canvas look like the original subject.

I had to laugh at an email I received yesterday from a customer named Brenda who said her canvas was so realistic that her dog thought it was REAL!

I received my Canvas on Demand order today.  AWESOME!!  I LOVE IT!!  Thanks so much for being so particular about the photo quality, and for the email and phone call to get it just right.  I will be coming back for more.  It was totally fun!  My dog was actually barking at the picture of himself today after it arrived.  It was hilarious!  Now I just need to get a canvas of my other dog made!  Thanks so much!  Brenda

Just think of all the possibilities…and visit our website for more ideas and choices.  Mom

City Youth Seek Beauty and Light

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about Canvas on Demand’s support of the Viewfinder Project, a photography initiative organized by the LYN House, a youth-focused non-profit on Indianapolis’ near eastside.  I first visited the classroom where instructors and volunteers were teaching the children how to look for beauty and light in their neighborhoods.  Then this past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the opening of their photography show.

The House had been transformed into a gallery showcasing the youth’s work.  Some of the most outstanding photos had been re-created as art canvases.  What a joy to hear the young photographers proudly explain each piece–the composition, colors, shading, focal points, and textures.  But I especially enjoyed hearing how the project had made them see beauty where they had not noticed it before.

Thanks to the LYN House director, Heidi Lyda, and her board of directors for allowing Canvas on Demand to partner in this worthwhile and meaningful project.  Your dedication to these young people is yet another example of the beauty and light in our world.   Mom

Mom congratulates Mayson, a sixth-grader who was eager to share her photo of the Indiana State Capitol building.

Canvases of the photos will be sold to support the mission of the LYN House.

Teaching Children to Love their Neighbors

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Canvas on Demand is excited about the opportunity to partner with a non-profit in Indianapolis, Indiana called the LYN House. LYN stands for Love Your Neighbor. One of their programs offered to inner-city youth is a photography class that allows them to see their neighborhood with new eyes. Canvas on Demand will create canvases from the best photos taken by the children. These will be displayed at an upcoming art exhibit open to the public. Take a minute to watch the short video below and learn about one of the many ways this organization is encouraging children to better-appreciate their neighborhoods.

Congratulations to the youth, the volunteers, and the directors of the LYN House. Keep up the great work. And thanks for letting Canvas on Demand participate as you teach children to love their neighbors! Mom

Hang a Bundle on Your Wall

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

What can you do with that brand new little bundle of joy?  You can hold it, rock it, giggle at it, change its diaper…or you can show it off by hanging it on the wall!  That’s what Larissa, Samantha, and Patricia have done.  Send Mom a note about the little bundle hanging on your wall.

We had one of our son’s newborn photos put on canvas for our bedroom, and it came out remarkable!  The service was impressive! My photo didn’t fit on the specifications that I ordered, so they contacted me to let me know that they would be customizing my canvas at no additional charge! The end result was phenomenal and looks fantastic in our bedroom.  Larissa from Avondale, Arizona

This is a picture of our second son Logan at 2 weeks old. We already have one like this of our first son Xavier, and see how much they look alike.  It’s amazing.  The Canvas on Demand team worked with me to get the best picture.  We have had six canvases made and all are remarkable.  The service and shipping is outstanding. Samantha from Norman, Oklahoma

This photo on canvas is of our daughter Olivia, dressed up in her 1st Cav gear to support Daddy while he is deployed. Canvas on Demand did a FABULOUS job. The delivery time was actually sooner than expected, and it came packed snug and secure and was in perfect condition. The print is perfect, the canvas is pulled taut with no imperfections. In fact, the customer service we received from them was SUPERIOR. They went above and beyond helping my husband find the right photo that would fit the canvas size perfectly and one that would provide a flawless finish. Kudos!  Patricia from Ft. Hood, Texas

Time to Say “THANKS” to Dad

Friday, June 4th, 2010

”He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.”                       (Clearence Kelland)

It’s time to order that special canvas for Father’s Day.  After all, look at all he taught you…in words and in actions.

One of my all time favorite father and son canvases is of a customer named Justin from Fort Worth, Texas.  He told us:  “This picture is of me holding my son. You can’t see his face, but the look on mine is priceless. Brown hair, scruffy beard, green eyes.  I was extremely pleased with this art canvas!”  Justin is serving in Iraq, so this canvas is especially dear to his wife back home in the States!

And here’s another wonderful canvas that will hopefully remind everyone to remember grandfathers and great grandfathers too.  Tonya from O’Fallon, Illinois, told us about it:  “Our children were fishing with their Great Grandfather when this photo was taken. This picture is priceless to us, and we have been searching for a better way to display it. Canvas On Demand was the perfect solution!   Everyone who comes into our home comments on it.  Thanks!”

Then finally, Taracita from North Chicago, Illinois, talked about the beauty of generational family ties. This picture enlarged on canvas is of 2 generations of the family men.  The brothers are the two standing far left and far right. The cousins are front and center (two fathers and two sons).  THANK YOU Canvas On Demand!”

Helping Us Spread the Word

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Canvas on Demand just showed up in another great baby blog called Chronicles of a Babywise Mom. We really love people who help us spread the word.  See what Val posted about us below.  Mom

Something I love about these canvases is the wrap around feature as shown in the photo above. You can get them in thin or thick. They also offer several different types of frames if you want it framed.

If you are looking for something different, you can go for the pixel painting effect. You can also change your photos to black and white or sepia. A cool feature they have is to turn black and white photos into color photos.

Another artistic touch is to do photo splits where you split the photo up onto several different canvases.

They retouch and restore as well as replace the background. This is a nice feature when you have a photo you love but the background is distracting.

If you are like me and indecisive, you can do a collage canvas.

The canvas ships in 3-4 days and comes very well packaged. Their customer service was friendly and helpful.

But what about the canvas itself? It is beautiful. Really amazing. My picture is a 16×20 and it is stunning. The thing that really amazes me about it is that it was just a photo snapped with my 5.0 megapixel camera. We love it, and people who see it rave over how beautiful it is.

Big, Bold, and Wonderful!

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Sometimes my job is so easy I feel guilty.  That’s the case with this article, because one of our pro customers, Jeff from Edom, Texas,  sent me all the information I needed to share this wonderful story with our readers.    I think you’ll all enjoy hearing about these VERY interesting canvases made from his photos.  Thanks so much, Jeff, for the article and the terrific image!  Mom

I’ve been a photographer for about 20 years and started selling my “artistic” images about 10 years ago.  Printing images on canvas is fairly new to me and I’ve hesitated to purchase my own printer because of the capital investment.  When Canvas On Demand was referred to me by a friend who is also a photographer, I realized that I could offer high quality canvas prints to my clients at a very reasonable cost….WITHOUT having the make the investment in my own printer.

A few months ago I was approached by a new client for four images, 4′x6′, to be placed in the lobby of a downtown office building.  Canvas was the perfect medium for this job, however I was concerned about the resolution of my files! One of my images was taken digitally, and the other three had to be scanned from 35mm film.  When I provided all the files to Canvas On Demand, Jonathan helped me insure that I had sufficient resolution in my images, the proper cropping for the gallery wrap, and even helped me create a sample “strip” of the final size that I could show to my client.

The final canvas prints arrived a few weeks ago and this week I saw them for the first time on the walls of the lobby.  They looked fantastic and my client loved them! The entire process was very easy and once I transmitted my files to Canvas On Demand, I had nothing else to worry about.  The quality is exceptional. The service is way beyond the call of duty. The final results are better than I imagined.

Out of the Ordinary!

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

I always enjoy seeing  some of the unusual canvas images being shipped out to our customers!   Just look at this one by Greg from Austin, Texas.   At first glance, I was puzzled, then I saw the beauty in the shapes and colors.   Greg explained it to us…

The photo used for this canvas  is an interior image of the Texas State Capitol Rotunda located in Austin, Texas.    I am totally pleased with the printing and mounting job done by Canvas On Demand — and the quick turn around time. My print was a 30X40, 1.5″ Gallery Wrap and was packaged for shipping very carefully and securely. This is the second I’ve ordered from Canvas On Demand, and the second time I’ve been more than pleased with the printing, mounting, delivery, and price. Please keep up the excellent work!     Greg

Tammy – Oneonta,  AL

And check this next one out by Tammy from Oneonta, Alabama.    She took the photo at Antelope Canyon in Arizona last summer while on vacation.     “I love it,” she told us.   “I can’t believe how great this canvas looks.”

Matthew from Juneau, Alaska shared another remarkable image and his thoughts about the finished product with us.

This photo was taken of a rose I gave to my wife. When I first sent the picture in, I received an email from Canvas on Demand letting me know that the size of the frame I chose (16×20) would crop out some of the picture. They told me they would modify the size to fit the picture (16×24) free of charge. I absoutely love how the canvas turned out. It looks like a true piece of artwork. The color and appearance are fantastic. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that. The enlargement I did of the photo  turned out great, however the canvas print version is truely spectacular!

Special Delivery by Canvas on Demand

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Nothing says LOVE like the delivery of a new baby!   I couldn’t resist sharing these precious little images and the testimonials that accompanied them.

Baby-montageStaci from Greenacres, Florida had us create this montage of her 2-month old baby girl. It shows her beautiful face, along with the many little precious parts of her body.   The canvas print came out amazing. Our goal was to have something to always remember how small our third and final baby is… and this canvas couldn’t be more perfect!

Baby-at-bathtimeMichael in Selden, New York explained, “I refer to this canvas as Bath Time, a picture of my son when he was 16 months old.   My wife had just dried him off.   This gallery wrapped canvas is absolutely beautiful. The detail, the quality, absolutely everything about it is breathtaking. I purchased this for my wife as a gift.   As soon as they arrived in the mail, I couldn’t contain my excitement or keep this a secret any longer.   She cried just cried when she saw it. It ranked right up there with one of her all time greatest gifts ever!! I cannot thank you enough…for your kindness, patience and just sheer dedication to making people happy. You truly are a class act.   I will be using your company frequently using in the near future and also recommend you to others.   I know others who order from you will be singing your praises as well!!! Thanks again so very much.

Baby-in-the-blue-blanketMarge from Marietta, Ohio told us about his picture on canvas of her first grandson. “He was seven months old in this picture. I could not have been happier with the outcome of this picture. It truly is beauty on canvas. Thanks for the extra care and packaging.”

Staci from Greenacres, Florida had us create this montage of her 2-month old baby girl. It shows her beautiful face, along with the many little precious parts of her body.   The canvas in came out amazing. Our goal was to have something to always remember how small our third and final baby is… and this photo to canvas image couldn’t be more perfect.

Someone once said that a baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankrolls smaller, homes happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.   And I would add that they also make the best canvases!     Mom
