Winter Fun

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

It’s January.  While many take off to warm sunny beaches, the more adventurous might consider vacationing in a cold climate.  Some of my favorite vacation memories have been winter trips—dog sledding near the boundary waters in Minnesota a few years back and visiting Patagonia and China during the cold seasons just this past year.

So I suppose it’s no surprise that I linger a little longer on the winter vacation canvases we create for customers like Laura.  She took this photo on her vacation to Alaska’s Hubbard Glacier.  “The colors are true to life, it really is that blue!  We had GREAT weather, and our cruise ship got the closest that they were ever able to in the boat’s history. This is my husband’s favorite picture from our whole cruise, so I had it made into a canvas for his birthday. The canvas turned out really nice, very professional looking and the colors were perfect.

Holly was in Nepal on a trip enjoying being on the top of  Kala Patar which has the best view of Mt. Everest, the tall peak on the right.  “I was so very pleased with this wrap around that I ordered from Canvas on Demand.  It turned out beautiful!”

I especially loved this canvas we made for Howard of a trip to Yosemite.  “Half Dome is in the background.  I am a professional photographer, and Canvas on Demand is where I go for all of my customer’s canvas orders. They are extremely professional and do a fantastic job. If I ever have any problems, they respond quickly and are always there to help.”

When planning your next vacation, remember that “fun in the sun” doesn’t have to be on the beach.  I could possibly be near a mountain ski lodge or on a glacier.  And don’t forget your camera!  Mom

Our Canvases Can Run Hot and Cold

Friday, November 5th, 2010

As summer 2010 fades into pleasant memories, let’s reflect on the warm times once again with Brian from Joliet, Illinois.  We made this canvas for him from a “different perspective” sort of image he snapped on his honeymoon on an island beach called Castaway Cay, which is exclusive to the Disney Cruise Line.  Now don’t fret, readers, it’s only another eight months or so until we can begin taking summer-fun pix again!

Now compare that canvas to this one we made for Daniel from Kailua, Hawaii.  “I found this giant iceberg in the Arctic Ocean along northern Greenland’s coastline.  The water was amazingly calm, creating this perfect glass-like image.  Below me was 5 feet of quickly thawing ice, and later in the day, the berg was freed, floating away from its wintery captivity. Thank you for helping with the creative side of the canvas; I had initially wanted to add some hand-touched oil painting to the image, but the experts at COD said that kind of alteration shouldn’t be necessary. I took their word, and was happily impressed with the canvas I received. The wood-trim frame is a nice contrast to the snow and ice. Thanks for everything, Team COD!”

And finally, put on your mittens before looking at this canvas of two mule deer taken by Carol, a customer from Conifer, Colorado, on a snowy March day.  “I ordered online on a Friday evening and received my canvas by the next Friday. The canvas was beautiful… just like my original file and lab prints. I will definitely order from here again!   Carol”
