Proud Mom

Monday, July 19th, 2010

We just received a wonderful note that I’ve posted below from a proud Army mom.  Kimberly, thanks for writing.  It is truly our pleasure to support our troops and their families.  Tom

I have just finished reading about “Operation:  Hi Mom in Woman’s Day magazine and  just had to write to let you know that I think that it was such a wonderful idea!  I have enjoyed visiting your website and have decided that you must be very special people to not have forgotten these great American Heroes. Our son is currently in Afghanistan, proudly serving his country.  He has been deployed there for almost a year now, and we so miss his smiling face!  I can just imagine the joy that you were able to bring to those Mothers that received their soldier’s picture canvas.  I am sure that your kindness was greatly appreciated by all.

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.  It is so nice of you to support the love that these soldiers and Mothers have for each other.

Sincerely, Kimberly (a proud Army mom)

Can’t Resist Just One More Post from Moms

Friday, May 14th, 2010

I know, I know…Mother’s Day is over.  But as a mom, I just couldn’t resist one more post regarding Canvas on Demand’s Operation Hi Mom.  Thanks to all of you for writing to us.  I just wish I could share ALL of the hundreds of responses with our readers.  But please just know that your comments mean a great deal to us here at Canvas on Demand!  Mom

Dear Canvas on Demand:  I want to thank Canvas on Demand for their outstanding tribute to our nation’s troops and their waiting families.  I got the surprise of my life yesterday when I opened a huge box with a photo of my son magically transferred to canvas in artistic form!  I cried and cried!  My son is Mike, USMC, on his second tour (Irag/Afghanistan).  He’s a tough, gung-ho Marine, but when it comes to a stray kitten, he’s a marshmallow softie!  The canvas is a phenomenal example of giving from the depth of heart and soul.  We are proud of our troops who sacrifice so much to keep us safe, and we are equally proud of businesses like Canvas on Demand who sacrifice during difficult economic times to remain true to their personal integrity, devotion to their beliefs, and investment in what makes our country great.  It is companies like Canvas on Demand that have always made America what it is, the greatest country in the world, well worth the sacrifices we all have to make.   Thank you, Canvas on Demand, from all of the military families back home who feel your support for our loved ones at war.  Mike’s mom, Chris  (See the canvas of Mike and the little kitty at the end of this post.)

Below are few more of the hundreds and hundreds of heartfelt notes we receive every day, notes that bring us great joy!

Last week I received in the mail the most awesome gift that any Mother could ever receive. My son is in Iraq and he had uploaded his photo and sent it to your company to make a canvas. I just wanted to tell you how beautiful it is and to thank your company for what you are doing for the troops. If I had the choice of a $1,000 bill and this canvas, my pick would be the canvas. Thank you so much for my special gift and again, you guys are doing a superb job for our troops!  Lynn

Wow!  I really appreciate you doing this for deployed Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines.  It means the world to us to know there are people back home like you that support what we are doing.  I know it means the world to me!  I can’t wait to hear my mother’s response when she receives the canvas. Thanks for making this a special Mother’s day for my mother, Roy

To the crew at Canvas On Demand:  I would just like to say “THANK YOU SO MUCH” and they say people aren’t nice these days. My Mom is going to be so surprised I wish I could see her face when the canvas arrives. If I can do anything for you guys/gals just let me know…I owe you! TSgt Christopher

I just want to thank you for the gift you have given my family and I.  I have not seen it nor will I see it until I get home from Afghanistan, but what you are doing is wonderful.  For me, it doesn’t matter what it looks like, just the thought of you doing this for us is enough for me.  It is people like you that make life easy for us. Patrick “Strength and Honor”

Thank you for doing something for the troops! It’s not often that people recognize what we do and what we go through. I really appreciate it. SSG Ronnie

I can’t thank you enough! What you did (operation hi-honey) for me & my wife was simply amazing. I was skyping with her last night when she opened the canvas…she had no clue what was in it. The look in her eyes and tears of joy were priceless. Even though my wife and I are seven thousand miles apart, you made it possible for us to have a special anniversary. I may sound a little too dramatic but honestly, THANK YOU!   Lemuel

Oh my gosh…I am still crying as I gaze over at the canvas I just received from you.  What a lovely gift. It is amazing All I have to do now is look at this canvas and remember my hero!  Sincerely, Debbie

From Our Mom to Yours!

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

I had the wonderful pleasure the other day to present an Operation Hi Mom canvas to Lauren, the mother of Eric who is currently deployed in the US Marines. What a joy for me and for her! As a mom myself, it touched my heart to be able to present her with this complimentary Canvas on Demand wall hanging as a Mothers Day gift from her son, Eric, who wrote:  She’s the best mother a guy could ask for!

This opportunity gave me an up close and personal glimpse of how this program is encouraging our troops and their families! Enjoy the video of Lauren below! Mom

Heartfelt Notes from Moms

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

These little notes we have been getting everyday from moms who are receiving complimentary canvases from their deployed children really are touching.  I am posting just a few here for our readers…but most of all, I am posting them for our Canvas on Demand employees.

To our Team here at Canvas on Demand: You are doing a wonderful job at a very busy time of year…and you are bringing joy to many.  Thanks for your work and dedication to our Operation Hi Mom program!  Just take a few minutes and read some of the comments below.  I promise that they will make your day!  Mom

I want to thank you for this program. I too had no idea what was in the box, as I read the letter I cried (the ugly cry), hugging the picture of my son and his daughter at the deployment ceremony. I was not able to go due to illness so to have this means more than I can ever write to you. Thank you again.  You have made my mothers day! Linda

I want to say a special thank you for this project. It is by far the best mothers day gift ever. I was having a bad day and missing my son so much when this arrived. I am so proud of him for his service to our country. I will definitly use your business for future prints of my family. Thank you to all those that work there and made this possible and a special thank you to my son who I love very much!!!  Donita

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for your ‘Hi Mom’ program.  I received my photo today and absolutely loved it and the letter that was included was the icing on the cake!  What a fabulous Mother’s Day present coming from so far away. It made me feel, even if for only a moment, that Afghanistan wasn’t as far away!  Blessings to you and yours!  Susan

Today Fed Ex delivered my canvas photo of my soldier who is serving in Iraq. I can’t tell you how much joy this has brought to me this Mother’s Day. I am so proud of my Son for joining the Army and for what he is doing for our freedom.  Thank you for offering this service to our military. It means so much to us parents and spouses as well.  Sincerely, Vicki, proud Army Mom

Thank You. Thank You. Thank You! The canvas is wonderful and the accompanying note brought tears to my eyes. Anytime I see a soldier in uniform I am overwhelmed with emotion. A soldier does so much, for not nearly enough pay, so it’s awesome that your company provides them with this opportunity to let us moms know that they miss us and still appreciate us as much as we love and appreciate them. Your generosity will never be forgotten. God bless you all.  Tina

I cannot begin to thank you enough for the beautiful canvas print I received today with amazing words from my husband. Thank you so much for recognizing our military families and all that each spouse and child endures while our soldier is fighting for our freedom! My kids love staring at our new family photo up on the mantel, which is the most fitting place to stare at a VERY appreciated piece of artwork. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving from your heart!  Kristy

My mom got her canvas yesterday and sent two emails saying how much she loves it and how perfect it is. She had been sad about both of her kids being away from her on Mother’s Day, and I think this made it a little better. Thank you very much for your incredible generosity. It is something my family will remember for years to come! Thank you very much!  Michelle

I received your beautiful canvas in the mail today. I wanted to say thank you very much, it means the world to me. Being he can’t be here in person, having a great big amazing photo of him in front of me is the next best thing. You are unbelievable, I thank you with all of my heart. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! (times infinity!)  Jennifer

And I want to end by sharing a poem that Frank wrote and included with his canvas to his Mom…

A Mother

A Mother is one who
understands the things
you say and do

Who always overlooks
your faults and sees the
best in you

A Mother is one whose
special love inspires you
day by day.

Who fills your heart with
gladness in her warm
and thoughtful way.

A Mother is all these things
and more – the greatest
treasure known.

And the dearest Mother in
all of the world is the one I
call my own.

My Mother is My Best Friend

This Week…It’s All About Moms!

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Joe here.   I really loved Mom’s photo of the stacks of thousands of canvases going out to the mothers of our deployed service men and women.  We love being able to do this every Mothers Day.  I have a couple more photos to add here; they are of our folks loading up the boxes at the loading dock.   Thanks to all our staff who gladly work to make this project happen…even during one of our busiest seasons!

Happy Mothers Day to the moms out there!  Joe

Honoring Moms

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

What a treat for me to be in our home office this week when the energy level is so high.  That is due in part because Mother’s Day is just ahead and that’s one of our busiest times of the year.  But another reason why our staff is in such high gear is because everyone here is working feverishly to produce the complimentary Operation Hi Mom canvases for the mothers of our deployed service men and women.

As most of you know, our Operation Hi Mom program awards our deployed men and women a free fine art canvas, printed from a favorite photo, which we mail or deliver to their moms on Mother’s Day.  But this year has been far and away our BIGGEST year yet for this program.  We have literally received more than 2000 requests!  The deadline for requests has passed and everyone here at our corporate office is working like crazy to get these special orders out in time for Mother’s Day.  Thousands of moms across the country will be very surprised and very blessed in the next two weeks when these packages arrive at their doorsteps.  Just take a look at the photo below, and you’ll get an idea of the magnitude of this project.

After this photo shoot, I was at our company snack bar getting a cup of coffee, and one of our employees turned to me and said:  I’ve never worked for a company before where what I am doing every day really makes a difference in peoples’ lives.

Before I could reply, he added:  You must be very proud.

He is so right.  There simply are no words to describe how proud I am of our staff and our company owners for their spirit of community service and for their commitment to those serving our county!

And to all you moms out there who have sons and daughters who are deployed and serving our country…we at Canvas on Demand thank you and honor you on your special day.   Mom

Hi Mom, It’s Justin!

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

With Mother’s Day less than a month away,  our Operation Hi Mom program is kicking into full gear again.

This initiative, started several years ago by  Canvas on Demand,  awards hundreds of our deployed men and women a free fine art canvas printed from a favorite photo.   The canvas is  presented to their moms on Mother’s Day. Deployed soldiers can simply go to a specially-designed webpage on our website to submit a request, write their mothers an endearing message, and upload their photo.   It’s a way for soldiers to say to their moms: I love you!   And it’s a way for Canvas on Demand to say to our troops: Thanks for a job well-done!

I want to share a…well, rather unusual image that we recently shipped out to Cindy, a mother in Greensboro, North Carolina.   Her son,  Justin, who is serving in the US military, told us why he wanted this special gift for his mom:

My mother has been a HUGE supporter since I enlisted. She is always sending packages and letters to me…but also to my friends who are deployed with me.   He wrote:      Happy Mothers Day, Mom! I love you.   And I totally expect this to be hung up in the house somewhere. Justin

While this note about his Mom is quite sweet, the actual canvas is quite entriquing.   In fact it really had all the folks in our production department chuckling as they created it!   Justin explained that  on a whim, he’d had a friend with great computer graphic skills create the image.   “It IS quite random…but it IS quite me!”

I am hoping that Justin’s mom, Cindy, contacts us with her reaction.   If you’re like me, you’d like to hear what Cindy thought about her son’s fun and edgy canvas and where she plans to hang it.    Check it out below.   Mom
