Autumn Leaves. Canvases Don’t.

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

I just took a long drive from the Midwest through Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.  The lovely autumn colors that had fallen from the trees up north were still brilliant the farther south I went.  So I suppose that is why I was thinking FALL as I prepared to write this article.

For example, Heather asked us to create a canvas from a precious photo of a little boy named Tucker who was pheasant hunting.  She told us that she “had originally sent in another photo to Canvas on Demand.  But they contacted me immediately that they were not 100% with the quality of the picture and asked if I had another version or a different picture.  It turned out beautiful!”

Another customer, Cathy, placed an order and wrote this testimonial:  “I am a professional photographer and needed a sample to show my customers. This photo is of my granddaughter. My customers are raving about the quality of the photo on canvas. I am very pleased. Canvas on Demand is #1 on my list. Your consultants were very professional and called me about the resolution on two of the photos that needed to be changed. That made all the difference in the finished product. Thanks to a great team, Canvas on Demand!”

And finally, Bonnie asked us to make a canvas from a photo of her son’s first visit to his grandparent’s house in Iowa.  “He was in awe of the piles of leaves everywhere!  I love, love, love Canvas on Demand and couldn’t be happier with the canvases I’ve ordered.”

So I see there are at lease two ways to hang onto autumn a little bit longer.  You can take a long drive sourth…or you can have an art canvas made of your favorite fall photo.  Mom

Help Us Spread the Word

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

My last post about Pfc. Brett Wood makes me want to remind readers of two very important Canvas on Demand initiatives.

The first is a program called Operation Hi Honey.  It is our way of honoring and supporting our troops who are deployed overseas… and their spouses who are holding down the home front.   Operation Hi Honey awards hundreds of our deployed men and women a free art canvas, printed from a favorite photo, which will be presented to their Honey on their anniversary.   It’s a way for soldiers to say I love you… and it’s a way for Canvas on Demand to say to our troops, Thanks for a job well-done!  Last year, our staff created hundreds of these canvases for our troops.

Here is an example of one soldier’s canvas which was sent to his wife on their anniversary.  Here’s what Gordon wrote to accompany the canvas:  “I had a fellow airman take this while I was standing on a ladder to surprise my wife. I am always thinking about her and hate being away from her and my family. Her strength helps make my important job easier while I am away from home.” (See the canvas at the end of this post.)

And the second project I want to remind you about is Canvas on Demand’s Doing Good program.  Are you involved with a non-profit organization that is doing great work in your community?   Or have you or someone you love been touched by such a group?   Canvas on Demand wants to offer our support and encouragement by presenting them with a $100 Canvas on Demand gift certificate to be auctioned off at their next fundraiser.  It’s just one way we can cheer on the good works of local non-profit organizations across America. Christine from an elementary school PTO just wrote us saying:  “Thank you, thank you, thank you! We had a great Spring Festival and people were excited to participate! The auction was a great success due in part to Canvas on Demand!”

Keep these two Canvas on Demand projects in mind and pass them along to the people on your address list to help spread the word.  Our staff often says that these efforts are the best part of their jobs.   Mom

Dreaming of Cooler Days

Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

It’s been a record hot summer in the Midwest and as I write this in early September, it is 101 degrees and I am wilting!  The oven-like temperatures make me dream of cooler days just around the corner.  So for others sweltering in the late summer heat, here’s a reminder of those crisp days of autumn that are just around the corner.

Don’t you love this amazing canvas we made for Ruth from her photo of the Glade Creek Grist Mill in Babcock State Park, WV?  She called it a magical place and judging from this October image, I can understand why.  She went on to say?  “This was my first order from Canvas on Demand. I was quite impressed by the process and final delivery of my print. When I opened the well-packed box to see my print, the first thought by both my husband and I was WOW, the colors are amazing, as were the details from my then Nikon D70 6mpx camera. I also was impressed with how you braced it in the center and at all 4 corners for better support of the 24×36.  I had the same sized print done on canvas of the same image for a customer by another company over a year ago before I found out about COD. I must say, I was more impressed with COD than I was the other company that I had only used once. Your contrast in colors was so much better as was the mounting on stretcher bars.  COD is now my place to go for all my canvas needs :) Thank you Canvas on Demand!”

Autumn Mill

Now here’s another lovely promise of cooler weather.  Micky’s fall photo of lovely Aspens was taken in Breckenridge, Colorado in September of last year. “As many times as I have visited Colorado, I had never been there when the Aspens were in full fall color until now! Beautiful!!  I found out about Canvas On Demand by way of a Groupon that I took advantage of. Ordering was easy and my print came within two weeks!”

Aspens!

There is nothing like a lovely sunrise to show off a spectacular autumn day.  Soundra’s image was captured early one late November morning.  “It was the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We bundled up and went out to wait for the sunrise. I knew when I saw this image that I wanted it on canvas to hang in my house. It turned out exactly as I had envisioned it and now hangs in my living room as a reminder of that beautiful sky. This was our 4th experience with Canvas on Demand. You always do such beautiful work and contact us as soon as it is ready to come home. I know I will use them again–I already have some images picked out!”

Fall Sunrise

Mary told us about this next canvas of her home set amid stunning fall colors: “This is a fall foliage photo of the house we built on a large pond where all 4 of our children grew up. I submitted a panoramic picture for enlargement and was astounded when a Canvas On Demand representative called me to suggest a smaller, less expensive blow up to maintain the quality of the original photo. They saved me $100 and delivered a beautiful enlargement. Even the back of the picture was beautifully done. Very professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to order again.”

Home by the Woods

So don’t grow too weary of the heat.  Cooler days are ahead.  And get the camera ready to capture the next change in seasons.  You may soon end up with those fall colors hanging on your wall in the form of a canvas from Canvas on Demand.  Mom

Happy Anniversary!

Friday, August 5th, 2011

We make many, many wonderful canvases of weddings…but we make lots of canvas gifts for customers who are celebrating anniversaries too.

Maria had a great idea for a canvas gift to give to her husband Mark.  She sent us a terrific photo taken on their wedding day and asked us to add some special words to the layout.  “The service was the tops!” she told us.  “I had some questions and your art department answered the phone on the first ring.  Super nice!”  Maria went on to explain that the canvas was a 10th anniversary gift.  Happy Anniversary Maria and Mark!

Words of Love

Another customer, Christine, told us that she was having trouble deciding what to give her husband for their first anniversary.  Then she came across a picture of them exchanging their vows and rings.  She wrote:  ”I thought it would be awesome to have it on canvas. I was right.  He loved it!  The service and quality was fabulous!”  Christine, I really love the frame you selected.

Rings of Love

But what do you think of this wonderful collage done for a 25th Surprise Wedding Anniversary?  The testimonial:  “Not only did the couple love it, but everyone wanted to know about Canvas on Demand!”

Images of Love

We want to thank you all for spreading the Canvas on Demand story and for sharing your testimonials with us.  What lovely gifts for such special occasions.  Do any of you know a couple getting ready to celebrate a special anniversary?  Consider these ideas and then order a gift that will honor their love and commitment to one another.  Mom

Black and White…in Color

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

Pets come in many colors, but I was especially taken today with the black and white varieties as I browsed Canvas on Demand’s Customer Pet Showcase.

Look at this precious photo turned to canvas of MaShoo, a cat belonging to a customer named Cindy.  She tells us, “He is my Seal Point Siamese cat, and his name in Hebrew means he is something really awesome and great.  I truly believe he is all of that!  I enjoyed working with Canvas on Demand, because the staff was energetic and polite.  I will order another canvas again soon!”  Cindy, I love the cat and the backdrop.  And especially thanks for sharing these comments with our readers.

MaShoo

Tony said that the picture below of the lovely black and white dog is “of our beloved Siberian Husky, Cujo, who recently passed away.  He loved to pose for the camera!  He loved life and his family, and his family adored him.  We were amazed to receive our picture so quickly! The quality brought tears to our eyes! It is as if we could reach out and hug our beloved Cujo once more. The portrait brought joy to our hearts. Thank you very much.”  That was a wonderful testimonial, Tony.  It touched our hearts and made us realize that this canvas is a beautifully fitting memorial of your dear pet!

Cujo

And now here’s a black and white pet that we don’t see every day.  It is an adopted tiger named Shirkhan.  Tracy told us that he lives at an awesome tiger sanctuary called Tiger World in Rockwell, North Carolina.  “I love him,” she wrote, and this photo is of him loving to get cooled off with a water hose.  I love the way this canvas turned out!”

Shirkhan

So this all goes to prove that there are some great black and white photos that our customers have taken in color.  If you love photography and love animals too, then check out the PET section under our Customer Showcase.  I promise that you’ll enjoy it!  Mom

Family Reunions

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

A Happy Little Family

The only thing more wonderful than a family is a family reunion!  Some of my best family memories stem from them.  One side of my family is named Byrd, so we call those gatherings “Birds of a Feather Flock Together”.

I got a great idea for a family shot from a customer named Cristie.  “This is our happy little family,” she told us.  And do they ever look happy!  I love the colors and especially the tie dye!

But then a similar headshot of a family by Sue in black and white proved equally powerful!  Amazing what a little creativity can do, isn’t it?

Sue's Reunion Headshot

Sue said:  “We’ve been doing a yearly “Head Shot” since the cousins were little kids.  It’s so much fun to now have it on a large canvas to display on our wall!  Canvas on Demand was wonderful! We couldn’t be happier with the final product and will be recommending them to our friends and family! Thank you so much.”

I was touched by this lovely canvas we made for Adam.  “I am blessed to have a living grandmother and had all of the mothers of the family over for Mother’s Day.  After dinner, I went into my living room and noticed that there were four generations of women all standing near my sectional. I got them to pose and the result was a memory for a lifetime: my grandmother, mother, sister, and niece happily together in a picture of love. OMG!!! I am now Canvas on Demand’s biggest fan!”

Four Generations

Now look at this next family shot by Denise who said:  We had not had a family photo taken in many years and we decided to do something a bit different. This is in downtown Denver, Colorado. We are all jumping as high as we can! What a great day. This was our favorite shot from our whole session.  This is my first time using Canvas on Demand for myself. I have used them for my job many times, and have always loved the way the canvases come out.”

Something Defferent

Now I am really looking forward to getting my “feathered family” together again.  And when I do, I’m unpacking all my tie dye too!  Mom

Look! Someone Decorated the Baby!

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Baby canvases.  They are among my very favorites.  Whether those images capture them right after their bath, dressed in sweet pink or powder blue outfits…or decorated.  Yes, decorated.  I often chuckle at the ornaments the family uses.  Like the way that one of our customers, Barbara, put a butterfly on Miss Presley’s head.

Now Shannon mixed a tutu and boots to make a great canvas.  She tells us “that the guys at Canvas on Demand are great, helpful, and friendly.  I was thrilled.  I am so happy I found them!”  And we are so happy you found us too, Shannon.

Natalie proves that sometimes it takes something as simple as a flower. “This is my daughter’s 6 month professional photo.  I had 5 taken in her first year…and they all hang together on a large gallery wall in our home.”  Now that’s a proud mother!  She goes on to say:  “This was my first experience with Canvas on Demand and having 5 pictures was a significant investment.  I was a little nervous to do something like this online.  But it was so worth it! I’m glad I made that decision.” A tiara is the perfect enhancement for this little princess, Avery Jane.  Her mom tells us that she “has worked with Canvas On Demand for several years and always looks forward to the finished project, because it’s always such a beautiful keepsake!”  Thanks for those kind words, Pamela!

Petrina put a bow on her little angel, Zion.  “He is my precious Gift from God. I took this when he was two week old.  He is sleeping like an angel, wrapped in a beautiful blue bow.”

And finally, Heather’s image of her week-old daughter is fabulous.  “We love the contrast of the colorful blocks against the black and white image. We can’t stop looking at it. I ordered a 16×20 print, but Canvas on Demand was quick to let me know that a larger size (14×24) would work better. To top it off, they honored the original size pricing.

So there you have a new idea.  Get out the old camera and the new baby and do a little decorating!  Mom

One, Two, Three…Macro!

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

When I was a child, our local newspaper had a puzzle right next to the crosswords that challenged us to guess: What’s this photo? It was a macro shot of a common image like driveway gravel or a pine cone or someone’s nose.  It was fun, but it certainly was not art.

At Canvas on Demand, we often see macro images that are both fun and art.  Today macro photography allows us to appreciate details on canvas that our eyes are not capable of seeing.  Here are a few of my favorites that I hope will inspire you to…get ready; get set; zoom!  Mom

Wendy from Randolph, New Jersey, had us turn this photo to canvas.  “This is a photo of a dahlia that I grew in my garden.  It was taken by my husband. We had it blown up to a2 ft x 3ft canvas, and it hangs over our bed as an anniversary present to each other.  The service was fantastic and the final canvas photo enlargement is out of this world.  The detail, even at that large size is unbelievable– so clear and crisp; yet, on canvas, it looks like an incredible painting.”

Kate from Las Vegas, Nevada, said this about her macro. “ This was an ‘art house’ type of image…no people involved, a macro shot using a selective focus technique. It is a monotone of sea shells.  Your service was brilliant! So in the end, my order was a large triptych (60″ x 90″) of a macro, selective focus, monotone, shot where overall exposure, highlights, shadows and texture were very important. The team at Canvas on Demand was very helpful and responsive to my concerns, and the finished product is fabulous. This canvas photo really makes a statement! I can unhesitatingly recommend them.”

Bill from Tempe, Arizona, asked us to enlarge this image of a Brazilian Agate which he photographed in macro mode.  “I love what Mother Nature has done with these one-of-a-kind agates and the creative image they portray. I photograph numerous types of beautiful agates and have them printed onto canvas which creates a very nice piece of giclee artwork to hang anywhere in the home or office.   I was amazed at the quality I received from Canvas on Demand and plan to use them for all my canvas prints.”

Lights. Action. Canvas!

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

While many ask their subjects to pose for the camera, others love capturing the action.

Bruce from Jackson, Tennessee, for example caught the hardcore action at the Indy 500 when a car in the pit area caught on fire.  Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished with no injuries, and Bruce ended up an exciting one-of-a-kind canvas.  He told us, “This was another great job by Canvas on Demand. I have ordered several canvas photo prints from you, and your products and your service have always been excellent”.

Another great action shot was taken by Jen from Abingdon, Illinois.  She caught a wonderful shot of her daughters on the beach.  “It was the first time my youngest had ever seen the beach. I loved how she was running here, and how all three of them enjoyed being sisters and playing together. It is a moment I will truly never forget. Canvas on Demand brought the moment to life for me again. As it hangs in my dining room, I smile each time I see it, and so does everyone else.  Thank you, Canvas on Demand!

When you put kids and water together, there’s always terrific opportunities to snap movement as Richard from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan proves to us.  “These are six of my grandchildren jumping off a raft. All the children were actually in the air when I took aim.  Your company is great.   The canvas was an anniversary present for my wife, who loved the original print. She is extremely pleased and proud of the canvas you prepared. It’s hanging over our mantle. Great job.”

Seize the moment; grab the excitement; capture the action.  Then order a canvas of your favorite shot!  Mom

A Mid-Winter Suggestion from Mom

Monday, January 18th, 2010

dog in flowersfWe receive wonderful comments every day from our customers.   I want to share a few  with our readers today, because I believe they will inspire you to do something special with a favorite image–for someone else or for yourself.

The first is from Wanda  in Dousman, Wisconsin:

This photo was taken in our backyard. The picture is of my son’s dog lying in my beautiful impatiens. When I saw her in them, I wanted to yell for her to get out, but she just looked so beautiful I ran for the camera. This is the result. I decided to have the picture put on canvas for my son for Christmas as it is his favorite picture.  I was skeptical ordering online, however our photo on canvas far exceeds my expectations. It is beautiful. The colors are sharp and everyone cannot believe that it was all done online. I had asked for a leash to be removed from the picture, and I am amazed that there is not a trace of evidence that it was there. GREAT JOB!!!!! I must say that my son was really touched and I am pleased that he will have a memory of his precious girl for many years to come. Thank you. Wanda

Another testimonial is from Jamie in Jamestown, New York: vacation photo

This is an image my in-laws took when on a trip in Italy! I would HIGHLY recommend Canvas on Demand! Customer service was TOP NOTCH!! I was a bit leery at first, because I didn’t know what to expect, but when I called, they were VERY helpful in describing to me what would look best for my picture. Not only was it a great price, we’re EXTREMELY satisfied with the product.   It was here in less than 1 week (during Christmas even)!!! We will be ordering more!   Jamie

And the last one I’d like to share in this article is from Michele in Clarks Hill, South Carolina:

We took a photo of all my mom’s grandchildren at Christmas. The eldest has now joifamily shotned the army, and we don’t know when we will have them all back together again. I had seen another picture by Canvas on Demand and knew we wanted to get one for my mom for her birthday. She is so difficult to buy for, but it was the perfect gift!!  I simply uploaded my picture at 7:30 pm on a Monday night and received my canvas at 7:30 pm Friday night. Talk about service! I was concerned it wouldn’t make it in the 10 days before my mom’s birthday and it was here in 5. The canvas is gorgeous, and everyone that has seen it wants the information on how to order from Canvas on Demand. The quality and craftsmanship is outstanding!! Thanks for everything. Michelle

So a great mid-winter project would be to dig out those photos of your favorite pet, a memorable vacation, or special holiday…and have a keepsake created that will last, as Wanda says, for many years to come.   Mom
